Kingsley's name wasn't even really mentioned by the media - all we heard was Yze (and Clarko) the entire process. Fair enough if they were both neck and neck, but it didn't seem the case. Not saying by any means the media is gospel but how many things truly come out of left field these days with nobody knowing?

Even the bookies had Yze as the overwhelming favourite too. Kingsley was a pipe dream.

Seems rather odd in my view, is all. Kind of like a property that has has been on the market for years with multiple auctions and open house inspections - yet no takers.
So what. How does total speculation in the media count for anything ? So you know nothing about most of the assistant coaches . So does the media. Just as well GWS actually ran a process and interviewed a number of coaches.

I’d laugh if any other club were in our shoes and we deserve a smashing.

MMM and the rest of their boofheads can pile on as much as they like as far as I’m concerned.
This is the reaping what we have sown part...
It's ****ed but none of us did it - we just have to live with some shabby management of the whole episode.

Well you would not hire anyone that has not had experience if that was your view. Hardwicke got a job at the Tigers after not beating Knights in our last coaching process.
He has not been passed over many times. He has applied once. He was at the Hawks starting as development coach in 2012 and was defensive coach there from 2015 and then Melbourne from the start of last year.
At the end of the day Kingsley had more years experience. Who says that GWX got that right anyway ?
I think we need a coach with senior experience - yes. How many of them are floating around atm? Not sure.

Nope. He was passed over for the Adelaide senior coaching role in 2019 which he applied for, off the top of my head - maybe more.

Lyon is a piece of work. Regardless of whether he's a good coach, dude is a bad person. We don't need bad people.
Nice guy Essendon hasn't won us games though, maybe we need to completely fill our organisation with (reportedly) shit people?

What happened to Peter Sumich ? Wasn't he always seen as a top coach in waiting ? I think he has been an assistant for 15 year's between the 2 WA club's.

I don't think Scott not applying is a big deal,

He's been there done that, same as Lyon its not an easy job coaching an AFL team. Its not surprising they are sticking to their cushy jobs.

Crows asked him to apply. He had a couple interviews and then stayed with the Hawks. He did not finish the process Kingsley also interviewed for the job. Scott Burns also pulled out of the race. Since then he has had a further 3 years experience including a premiership year last season.

There are no coaches with senior experience other than Mark Williams.
The last 8 premiership coaches started off at their club with no senior experience.

We need a culture change within the club including some senior players changing their attitudes rather than complaining to people outside the walls of the club .

team america vomit GIF

AFL Tonight just said Essendon are pissed at Lyon for going into detail about their coaching process.

Apparently when the discussion was had, an NDA was provided which Lyon ignored and didn’t sign.
Poor process by Essendon to discuss anything without the signed NDA then, especially given Lyon is a member of the media.

Crows asked him to but you don't apply unless you want the role, which he clearly did. Ultimately Nicks was chosen after their process and multiple interviews between the two. He was waiting to hear the results of the review like the rest of the candidates.

I'm not sure what semantical point you're trying to argue - he was indeed passed over. Fact. Likewise at GWS.

You have to wonder if he was ever serious about coaching us. From afar looks like he just wanted the attention & inside info to further his ego and media career.

For the record I will never watch FC anyway while Carro is involved.
