Didn't we even interview Garry Hocking? That seemed weird as hell given he seemed to struggling to even stay in the industry at AFL level by that point.

Again, there were so many rumours flying around about the shenanigans that went on.

Ratten is one thats missing and would belong in the Former/No box

He did okay at Carlton and Saints, seeing the rubbish which followed him

He might still have senior coach ambitions and would have a lot of intel from other clubs. He's probably #1 for me of the former AFL coach list. Probably #1 overall really.

I haven't googled it, but I think Ratten has said he won't coach again.

i read that as he told roo etc some home truths about how shitty the club is run, and they didn't like it

Defensive coach - Jack Hombsh stays. Our backline operates well and he is becoming a well respected coach. Potential head coach material here.


Coaching mentor unpopular opinion here, but Mark Williams. He has been involved in recent Premiership success. Has ties with everyone I listed above. Is a qualified teacher and is great at mentoring nit just coaches but players

I like almost all of this but I don't it's likely. Williams is a dead set no. He's hated us from the moment he wasn't selected in our first training list.

I wouldn't mind tom lynch in there somewhere.

We need a super strong, self confident person to come in to own the joint. Only way the entitled boys club culture gets broken.

The only concern I’d have is if he plays the kids enough.

Sign him for 3-4 years and say have at it.

I'm not sold on any particular coach. Just Nicks has proven he isnt up to it. So as long as the candidate is the best available, we've exhausted all avenues including enticing ex senior coaches we desire. Clearly with the intention of taking our squad and game plan to the next level.

Time is now to become elite. If we wait too long, we fall into laughing stock territory and why would any top candidate be willing to come to a club that can't make the tough decisions to adhere to an environment and culture that demands excellence from all its staff and players. If we accept mediocrity we will only attract mediocrity.
