Cousins is worth a shot, he won't cost anything more than a late round draft pick or pre-season draft pick. Basically if he says he wanted play at Sydney, he would be ours for nothing. Worth a punt, we are really only a class midfielder and key position defender from being able to challene(and a focused Hall and healthy Mickey O).
Kerr is a question though. If we could get him for a package like Davis, LRT and our first, then yes we should do it. If we have to mortgage the future, it becomes a doubt. He is certainly worth a first round pick, it's what it would cost besides that that is the real question. Would he want to play in Sydney is another.
I'm a big fan of both players and I personally think we should be rebuilding in the background(See Geelong's method over Carlton). Kirk, Goodes, Bolton, Bolton, McVeigh, O'Keefe, Jolly, Kennelly and Malcieski all have a good 4 or 5 years in them based on the last couple of years and that core should be good enough to make the 8 each year. If Hall can get switched back on, he has a good 2 or 3 as well. Leo Barry and Everitt are the only 2 who look genuinely done to me.
No reason we can't develop guys like Jack, Bird, Vezpremi and co whilst competing, that way they are finals hardened from day one. We are only a few players away. We are not in a position where we should be missing the 8 over the next 5 years and if we manage it right we should be able to make at least 1 more grand final during the Kirk lead era.
