Media manager should be sacked for that. Was allowed to go on for way too long, after they were clearly under duress.

Thought they did ok to fend off the questions under the circumstances. Were never going to stand up and admit all their failings.. reminds me of a certain club administration that imploded in the past 6 months
Please was an awesome coach for us however unfortunately their were elements of the camp and post handling of the camp where he was over ruled by Fagan CEO, and Chapman Chairman

I put the issue of the camp and the handling of the camp on the club execs, not the coach

Back to Pyke and his coaching, he tool a list that was a solid list but not a great list into a GF, and there was 3 years under Pyke we were really hard to beat

Pyke also had to battle with the club to invest in our footy dept, his assistant were from the boys club like Hart and Campo, were not AFL standard, Pyke still manage to get us up the ladder

When I watch Sydney now, it mirrors our ball movement of 1016-17, this is no doubt Pykes influence

Watching Collingwood this, your players would love Pyke''so focus on offensive ball movement

At the end of the day Pyke resigned because of the incommencies of our CEO, Chairman and Burton our Footy Director, in resigning he gave the club a circuit breaker and eventually it forced the change for a new CEO and Chairman

I hope you don't mind me sharing but if he can land at a club and all he has to do is coach, he is a bloody good coach

If he gets the job I woukd be surprise if he brings Teague who was our forward coach

We had the number 1 ranked forward line for 3 years, this was a combination of Pykes game plan, Teague as forward coach

You had me at "incommencies".

This has to be one of the most farcical press conferences of all time. It takes a little while to get going, but it then degenerates into a game of ‘pass the shovel’ between Pyke and Burton …

I just watched this, thanks for sharing. I think Pyke and Burton are jumpy, defensive, and they lied a couple of times. “No lingering issues”. “Theme song only played once.” But overall, it’s not as bad as what you make out, and a pass for what was an incredibly difficult presser. It’s tough at the top, and Pyke must wonder whether he is up to that type of scrutiny on a weekly basis, which is commonplace at Collingwood.

It’s one thing to coach fast ball movement. I think we try to do that, and can manage it for a quarter or two. Executing kicks that hit the right jumper is another thing, particularly when tired, plus being fit enough to run out a game with this fast ball movement. Under Malthouse we were fit. I still think those high altitude camps in Arizona started the year off well.

I could warm to Pyke but let's not forget that Adelaide had Walker, Lynch, Jenkins and Betts all pretty much in their prime.

If Pyke came to us he'd pretty much have... Mihocek.

The unlimited interchange rotations helped too.

Q: “The two of you are fronting up to a press conference for the first time in while, and it’s a Saturday. Is there anything going on?”

A: <both shaking their head> Nah, nothing going on

A little while later:

Q: “How are things with Collective Minds?”

A: “Oh, we terminated their contract in the last 24 hours”

The problem with that presser is that they set up an unusual situation and asked the media to play a guessing game of what was going on.

They should have announced the bullet points (c’mon, it was going to come out eventually, best be proactive about it) and then be prepared for the inevitable follow-up questions by the media.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone.. if there's an announcement of a new coach within the next coupla.. and ya wanna celebrate or sulk with a drink or 2 or whatever and that re.. you can't have all your mates over.. so that you can 'get on da beeeeers'.. it's not appropriate.. it's not essential.. it's.. not.. needed.

Can't we just dangle the Madge carrot.. make a promise to sign him for another 3 yrs.. and have Scott reject any offer from us as a result? He rejects the offer. We take the Madge offer off the table.. delist him.. then make an offer to Clarko?

I know I would do that.. if I was on the panel.. and there was a coupla that liked Scott.

Sign Clarko/delist the Madge = win/win.

Up there for thinking mate.

Forget about it mate.

Here's the article thommo_legend is referring to...

Just so we are clear;

Graham Wright, who worked with Clarko for over a decade, who has spoken to Clarko multiple times within the last couple of months and who's wife is close friends with Clarkson's wife has reached out to Clarkson's management to gauge interest in the Collingwood job?:laughing:

Spare me, as if GW would need to go through that channel, I smell a smokescreen.
