Unless there are residual concerns with his man management PYKE has the absolute stand out resume IMO.
Ticks every box, compared to riskier newbies.
Clarko is not gettable I suspect.

I reckon he has a completely different game plan for todays footy, otherwise if it's that slow sh*t then it's a no.
How does Lyon not even get on the poll?

Clarkson is under contract next year and Mitchell is his successor. Maybe we could extend Bucks for a year and appoint Clarko for 2023?

Graham Wright might have some influence in getting one of them to us.

I don't think under contract carries the weight it once did.

They're both gettable I would have thought. Plenty of water to go under the bridge, though.

Only time will tell whether our performances warrant a contract extension or termination for Buckley but if we are to play this game.......

While there are exceptions to the rule history would tend to favour Premiership players going on to be Premiership coaches so if we are after a current assistant that would be my basic requirement for them to be even considered. Of course securing an already Premiership winning senior coach is another option.

Obviously our last two Premierships were won with a coach from column A and one from Column B.

Targeting Clarkson and Mitchell would be the obvious choice and with the Wright connection prying one of them out of Hawthorn might just be possible.

Question is which one do you preference?

While Clarkson is the obvious answer for most, I guess you have to at least ponder the question of whether the fire in his belly still burns as bright and just like your favourite rock star whether all of his greatest hits have already been produced. By all reports Clarkson wields a lot of power down at Hawthorn and whether his personality would fit in with the powers that be at a club like Collingwood is a great unknown.

So if we were to target Clarkson and be knocked back would we run the risk of Mitchell seeing himself as our consolation prize, be somewhat offended and rebuke us for it or would he see it as a sign Clarkson might well look to stay beyond 2022 and jump at the opportunity to start his senior coaching career at another big Melbourne club?

Alternatively if we sought out Mitchell first and were rebuked I'm not sure Clarkson would be rushing to pick up the phone if we came calling.

These two men would be my first choice with Caracella next in line out of the assistants.

Clarkson won't renege on his contract, unless Hawthorn push him out. He's made it clear that the Hawks gave him his chance when no other club would, that he owes them, so he'll be staying.

Mitchell is for Hawthorn. I thought that was understood by all and sundry.

Look further afield, for some brave soul who will happily chance their future with a suspect playing list.

Chocco Williams. A proven Premiership coach at Port and has only gotten better since then with stints at Richmond and Melbourne. Success follows him and he’d be more gettable than Clarko. Please make it happen!
