Thread needs a poll. Then when we’ve finished voting, the club can be notified of our collective decision. :)

But failing that Sam Mitchell, Blake Caracella or Don Pyke (but only if we can be sure he didn’t come up with the hair-brained Adelaide camp idea)
Wanted to give you two likes, one for each sentence as the second part of each made me smile and laugh.

How long did Longmuir sign with Freo for?

But first find out whether he voted for or against us moving back to chip chip chip in 2019.
Longmuir the first one that came to my mind (not that I think he's gettable given he's only in his 2nd year at Freo. If we did get him it would have the bonus of having a coach who can double as the much needed ruck coach for Grundy, given he averaged more than twice the number of hitouts per game of Rocca)

would a total cleanout of assistant coaches be all that's needed?
i personally think the system and the message is stale, but if the club is to retain bucks this would seem to be a sensible course of action. Off season shenanigans seems to have had an impact on the group.

having thrown that out there, i wouldn't mind clarko or lyon, need a strong figure.

Please enlighten us as to who that is and who you would prefer to see on the poll / as coach.
Obviously Clarko, although Pyke has a decent record. All the rest are untried risks.

It’s a bit disconcerting that so many people are keen to bring in a rookie coach in Mitchell as their first choice tbh.
Most of the recent premiership coaches won in their first stint of coaching. MM and Matthews the exceptions. They won in two different stints. We're going to be rebuilding, he'll have a couple of years to learn. Get a highly rated young assistant, who has actually played the game with zone defences.

I'm more troubled that people would consider Lyon; we'd get to enjoy a few more years of "low-scoring, lockdown footy"...

Al Clarkson would undoubtedly be the best choice, but he's not an immediate choice as far as anyone can tell.

For myself, I want to avoid being Carlton. Those poor f**** have spent the better part of two decades looking for a messiah who could immediately lead them back to glory, which is a good way of exciting --and then deflating-- your fans while conveniently ignoring the underlying issues which ensure your continued underperformance.

I think that Sam Mitchell could be a decent coach, but the amount of faith this board has in him is more a reflection of our desperation than anything else.

Luke Hodge or Justin Leppitsch.
Hodge seems to have a natural feel for the game and did amazing work at Brisbane. Helped re kick start them to where they are now.
Leppitsch would of learned a lot for his time coaching Brisbane and assisting at the Tigers.

Beveridge and Simpson... premiership coaches in the last 5 years won their flags all within 5 years as starting as an AFL coach... and got an AFL coaching gig after only a couple of years as an AFL assistant coach.

Unless there are residual concerns with his man management PYKE has the absolute stand out resume IMO.
Ticks every box, compared to riskier newbies.
Clarko is not gettable I suspect.

Pyke actually ticks a couple of my boxes.

1. Premiership player.
2. Only 4 years at Adelaide so still has 5 years left to be a Premiership coach before history says he never will be.
