Might depend on when teams where Yze and Voss are involved finish their finals campaign. If I was a footy club announcing a new coach I'd definitely do it on a Monday afternoon. Got a full week of press, and make sure it gives the 5 & 6pm news bulletins a chance to include it.
Next week though I reckon!
Well considering Yze and Voss are at Melbourne and Port respectively if that’s the case we won’t know until at least after the prelims. To be honest though given they both have a bye if either of them are still in contention then you’d think you’d only wait until they finish if they are the successful candidate. With them having a bye there’d be time to conduct final interviews or inform them that they have been unsuccessful this week.Might depend on when teams where Yze and Voss are involved finish their finals campaign.
The only person I can think of who might have reasonably been expected to be affected by the timeline outlined by GW (and he did say some candidates are involved in finals)is Blake Caracella. Based on GW’s radio interview last week it sounds like there’ll be an announcement this week or next week.
DamnCaracella confirmed in a radio interview yesterday he can't commit to a senior coaching role at the moment with 3 young kids. Bugger.
With apologies to Axiom..That post is a Mac Ray of sunshine
thanks for postingCaracella confirmed in a radio interview yesterday he can't commit to a senior coaching role at the moment with 3 young kids. Bugger.
I think Voss the coach was a bit of a victim of circumstance. Came in post dynasty when inexperienced favourite sons were the rage. Took over Brisbane when all the AFL resources were pumped into getting GC going, leaving their football department a shambles. He was either expected to oversee too many departments like list management - an issue not faced by current coaches - or was unfairly maligned as the instigator of some calamitous trades, hence the "Crazy Vossy" title. Is the main angst on Voss his coaching, his Brions connection or the Crazy Vossy trade hijinks?
Always thought he was in the Buckley Hird Voss mode still in the favourite son that never left and walked into the job. My memories probably a bit blurred but was his coaching that horrendous? Possibly he’s also learnt some more trips on his travels as well, if McRae isn’t the one then I’m happy enough to go with who they choose. The process finally seems right.

I'd say that there are many coaches from that era that would have performed much better if their only job was to coach, like their current counterparts.

Other teams have made announcements with finals candidates becoming head coach in fact didn't we have Scott walk away through mid finals under MM?
Clearly the new coach needs a simple, uncomplicated, and easy to spell name. That counts out Caracella, Leppitsch and - sorry - McRae.
Looks like it’s either Voss or Scott.
Mark Williams would be the perfect candidate as development coach.I really don't care anymore!!
I really wanted Clarko, basically because it was Clarko.
He has the runs on the board, so was an easy "go to bloke".
As our list and ladder position shows us, we are starting from scratch. It isn't just a few tweaks and we are good to go.
We are rebuilding and as half of our side is going to be made up of kids, development of them is key.
McRae, Kingsley, Voss, ect, ect, it doesn't matter, as we are not going to all agree with the choice either way.
There are too many unknowns, so we can tell ourselves what we want but none of us really know.
No matter who they put in, I know they will do a better job than you or I, so I am happy to let them have a crack and the people making the decisions, can be judged by the results.
Which we all know they will be...
