Anyone with eyes can see Carlton are currently playing shitball.

It will be amazing to see that even shitball will be better than what collingfluffies will end up delivering.

In the meantime - this will be a well drilled team maximising the impact that a few genuine stars in their lineup can deliver against another team which has more stars and many more total spuds to carry as baggage around them.

One tam is slick and fast the other team is bigger in some places and the opposite of slick or fast everywhere.

On top of that one team has the three yellow jackets covering for them at every opportunity buzzing around ready to pounce with one way technical calls if momentum is slipping too far in one direction - free kick Collingwood 4eva. Also both sids are chocka block full of ready made VFL players just itching to play AFL - you can tell by referencing their VFL performances - so both Clubs have so so much to look forward to.

On those stats, it's at best debatable that Warner is ahead.

Particularly when you see that Crouch averages approximately 7 more effective disposals, 2 more tackles and 2 more clearances per game than Warner, for example.

In reality, Warner was 3 x the player Crouch was in 2024.

with the lack of metres gained I'd get the impression that crouch did a lot of sideways ball movement to team mates (which would keep up the "effective" disposal stat)

Does it? First thing is they play entirely different roles in the team, Crouch a pure on baller, Warner a mid/hhf.

Then looking at the differences in Goals, Goal Assists, Score Involvements and Metres Gained... It's really a no contest to Warner. All of those stats mind you Sidebum was miles behind Acres last year.

But at their peaks they were amongst the top echelon of the competition.

Regardless, Sidebottom still has Acres covered comfortably, and Pendlebury would walk into any side in the competition. As evidenced by their ability to be amongst the best and most influential players on the ground in their most recent close win against a 2024 finals team.
