Daics has had only four sub-20 games in his whole career but well done on finding one, way back when

You said Callaghan was "Looking better than Nicky!", then he poops that effort out, shame on you
Finn went to Finn after quarter time, and completely shut him out of the game, in probably the first time he's copped a hard tag.

Let's see how he copes with the attention Daicos has been receiving since the start of his second year in the competition.

Remember when we were 2nd in the markets last year and u said betting markets are a load of BS...
He did turn out to be correct then as you went on to fall away.. and you could be correct now if the pies fall away but they do have 2 more wins at this stage. Next week is very important for this thread.

The odds of Carlton winning a contested game before Daicos takes a contested mark is stacked in Carltons favour

A classic indication of why the Colombian Blues have become so sad and are the new Fitzroy. There measure of success is whether or not they can have more wins than Nick has contested marks.

Just wondering... Is Callaghan the player the Pies would have got if they didnt trade out their pick out that year?

Looking better than Nicky!

Lol. Fell apart when the pressure lifted. No where to be seen.

it's all good, both will be on 16 flags after the years end. Another wasted year for both.
Nope Pies will be on 17. Deep inside, you know. It’s your darkest fear. That’s why you try to convince yourself.

Yes I'm sure the mystical Fadge knew Carlton would lose TDK to North and then 5 more player to Hawthorn including both our Coleman medallists to end up with an injury list of over 15 to finish the season!

For me, like many other Blues fans, I'm extremely disappointed at where we are right now especially as there was genuine expectation of being a Top 4 contender but this was fuelled by the footy media during the pre-season period talking us up to ridiculous levels.

I have been critical of the playing list for nearly two decades now, having seen 8 flags in my lifetime, I feel that I have a reasonable understanding of what is needed to win the next one. For reasons that defy logic, we just keep cutting corners with substandard players who never ever amount to anything and more times than not, are the oens who crack under the pressure of a big match.

Over the past decade, what I'm seeing all too often and to the detriment of the onfield performances is (a) the length of contracts given to players, (b) the unnecessary contract extensions that are not warranted or deserved plus (c) the illogical resigning of players who have not performed to any satisfactory level and should be delisted instead (although, this has imoprioved a little recently).

All in all, our players aren't hungry enough or desperate to perform to a higher level because we keep them in the "cocoon of mediocrity" by never dropping them when they play poorly. And why should they bust their arse anyway, they know we will just reward them with a payrise and/or a new contract anyway.

The word "culture" keeps being bandied around a fair bit and I'm 100% convinced this is probably the most damning feature of where we are right now. The passion & respect for the jumper is virtually non-existent nowadays.

To illustrate just how far away the current players are these days, compare them with some of our players of yesteryear to understand the difference (e.g. Peter Dean, Wayne Johnston, Steve Silvagni, Tom Alvin, Fraser Brown etc). Those guys were cutthroat & had a will to win that never waned, the way they played the game should be the minimum benchmark we will consider acceptable.

The other thing that comes up all too often in our discussions is a comment along the lines of "you can't get rid of XYZ, he's best 22". The player in question may be "best 22" at our club but he would probably be late 30's at any other club. In other words, we want to make excuses for some players because that is all we have instead of comparing them with the top third of the players in the competition.

For the record, I couldn't give two knobs of goats poop whether they are best or worst 22, 23 or 42 with us, what I use as the measuring stick is "would they get a game at any of the current top 4 teams right now". If they wouldn't, then why the feck are we bothering to persist with them when clearly they are inferior to the standard needed to beat those top teams.

In conclusion, I am firmly of the opinion that we are still around 8-10 important players short of where we really need to be if we want to challenge for a flag. How we find those players (draft, trade, FA) is in the lap of the gods (and probably a topic for another thread) but our problems will be further compounded if we don't get our cattle right before the new Tassie team comes in.

The playing list, the list management team & coaching panel all need an urgent review.

The premiership drought is now at 30-years and we are no closer to another flag than we were originally after years of revised strategies, promises & being told to be patienr by the club, that is the saddest part of it all.

With this gift hes been blessed with why dont we put a Powerball ticket on as a syndicate and clean up?

Daicos 0 contested marks again this weekend.

Spud.
Neither did 16 blueser players including Cripps, Cerra, Walsh, McGovern, Acres...

The lengths you blindfolded fools go to try and diminish the obvious talent of Naicos is incredibly embarrassing. As if Carlton don't provide us enough laughs as it is.

God you’re a touchy little weasel.

I was making a gag as Daicos didn’t even play this weekend - of course he didn’t have a contested mark!!

You carry on like someone punted your dog off a cliff.
