Not sure I'd be hedging my bets on a team who's head coach had a melt over Ken Hinkley telling Ginnivan to get on a plane home either. Arrogance and a victim mentality can often lead to a teams downfall.

Absolutely agree. We are pretty well experts on the matter and thus I feel qualified as a fan to tell others when they're doing the same.
Hawks arrogance both as a team and from supporters far surpassed what they achieved on field last year. Sam Mitchell demanding Ken Hinkley 'act his age' and that it was 'very disappointing' was the epitome of irony.
This is the same bloke who pretended to jab up his arm against Essendon as a player
I don't think that mentality will bode well for the Hawks, getting ahead of themselves as its colloquially phrased. Will result in them missing the 8 imo.

Newcombes draft pick is irrelevant, his performance has been quality.
Day is as talented as Walsh is, Sicily in his new role this year back to where he dominated is the best defender in the league, Barrass comes in as an A Grade defender which the level of spread out top quality Carlton don’t have.
Curnow, McKay, Walsh, Cripps, Weitering and maybe TDK are the top quality players. Who else?
Worpel has been a match winner, Breust may be past it but also battled injuries. Saad isn’t as good because he’s not a winger, Amon however is Saad level but possibly better as by his performances in 2024. Moore was an AA and a game winner, best half forward in the league.

People look at their top handful of players and conclude 'Carlton have an elite list'.
They do comparisons like the post you responded to, and people state ' I have Carlton's top 5 well ahead'.
But Carlton have had the best half dozen players of any team in the league for the past 3 to 4 years, and every year they've fallen well short of premiership contention.

The contenders bat 6 to 8 deep in their forward line. I don't even know who Carlton's third best forward is. I do know their third best forward would be outside of the top 6 of any team that wants to genuinely contend for the premiership.
Including mine.
