The wheels will be well and truly off by June in Pieland when the same old injury prone geriatrics break down again in 2025 and leave too much to too few.

At least Nicky will be able to stat pad to his hearts content and try and maybe even win that elusive Brownlow finally...

It's truly comical

The only unprecedented things Nicky is doing is avoiding physical contact on the field and racking up Fadgelows because he's not quite good enough to win the real ones.
He really avoided physical contact from Sam Walsh when he slotted the winner against you patsy’s this year. Probably more on Sam that one though. Gee Sam looked dumb there.
I’m sure he’ll improve on his 5 goals for the season next year….actually I’m not so sure. Another pick one bust is looking likely unfortunately 😝

Rankine was the obvious pick 1, excitement machine, needle mover... the Blues must regret that, blowing it on milquetoast Walsh who is washed up at 24

I'm convinced none of u kents who bring up that play have ever actually played footy before lmao

Astounding you'd be trying to bag Elliott (who 'closed like the Grim Reaper' to extend Carlton's non finals streak to 9 years in 2022) and McStay (who has done infinitely more in finals than 'Home and Away King Curnow').

Just astounding.
How many coaches votes for the pies is it again , just for the record ?
Mcstay ...

Remember when they made a movie right in the middle of their extended flag drought back in the 1970's and they showed Collingwood winning the flag because there was nothing else for them to celebrate ? Thatshowphuctuptheyare

It's ironic that a bloke who got more votes this season ( brownlow or coaches) than any pies players apart from Nick , is considered washed up.
Reckon he had major surgery during pre season as well.
Your eyes - are they painted on ?

You mean "The Club"? Great play, film was OK.

Not sure if the Pies win in the film, I think it ends with a prelim win.

We felt tortured by a 32 year drought. How long is Carltons dry spell? Nearly there!

There is so much in that, that explains the difference between a club that regularly contends for premierships, and a club still waiting to do so after more than two decades...

1. High cost injury prone Carlton recruit outpointed by a durable dual Collingwood best and fairest who has over and over again proven himself in big moments in big games;

2. Collingwood youngster outpointing an older Carlton 'youngster'. But I didn't think Collingwood had any decent youth aside from Nick Daicos?

3. Daicos completely outpointing the older and more experienced Walsh.

Give it up.

Mcstay has materially influenced a handful of finals throughout his career, which is a handful more than McKay and Curnow combined.

And that includes his only two finals as a Collingwood player.

the spread on your calls is so wide I can see pink
Whether I pick Carlton to finish 7th, 13th or 18th, it really is immaterial.

The bottom line is that I've consistently stated they don't have the list quality/depth/structure to genuinely contend for a flag, which has been proven correct time and time again.

Meanwhile others get seduced by their top 6 and continually have them in the premiership mix leading into the start of each season.

Watching Carlton fluff their lines at every level has been such an entertaining watch for more than two decades.

And it's happened again this off season when they made the decision that they don't need to improve their list heading into 2025.

It's simply magnificent.

Interesting draft that one....

Only 6 players from the 2018 draft have been premiership players, four of whom would be considered role players for their respective teams - James Jordan, Tom Sparrow, Darcy Fort and Noah Answerth.

The other two - Isaac Quaynor, who was selected in the AA Squad in his premiership year, and the 2023 Norm Smith Medallist, Bobby Hill.

one of the first things one does when building a portfolio is to understand the concept of 'duration' - I'm pretty relaxed about what Carlton decided to go with ..

It has taken a long time to make up for the midfield misses that SOS made at Carlton in Dow/SPS/oBrien/Cuningham/Philp etc etc

Those misses offset the wins in Curnow/McKay/TDK and Weitering the lucky/unlucky Walsh and forced acquisiion of Cerra only partially made uop for the fails

I see the addition of Young/E.Hollands/Lord/Camporeles as building a longer duration portfolio which shoudl extend the number of years Carlton can play competitively for periods way beyond what was previously possible.

Collingwood have a shorter duration portfolio - they may or may not contend this year- but the facts are that teh Club will have to scramble to stay competitive whilst carrying higher risk due to the age profile of the list - even on a 3 year view.

A risk adjusted expected return matrix sees Cartlon in a better position than Colingwood over a near term horison - say 2-4 years.

This year is a tooss of the coin.
