No no no , we all know he improves the list, but, does the depth improve enough to get a flag in 2025 ? And then the flow on effect of losing TDK - surely that diminishes the list further
So what you're saying is Carlton have salary cap constraints that prohibit them from building a list that will genuinely contend for a premiership?

You have made my morning.

So Carlton have salary cap issues despite having never contended for a flag?

Gee, that's a concern...
You are the master of deflection.
Answer me this - Carlton pick up Houston, then lose TDK - is the list better, or worse ?
Don't answer with fluff, or nuffery
There's only 2 responses - better, or worse

A good club would manage their salary cap to be able to build a list to contend for a premiership.

Seems Carlton have failed in that capacity.

But that's OK, Carlton won't bottom out like they have for multiple years at a time, on multiple occasions this century.

It could get very ugly for the Pies next year and beyond

Everyone understands the strategy, which is reasonably sound, loading up on experience to capitalise with a group of talented but aging players

If it fails, and still contributing to Grundy and Treloar, while once again having minimal trade capital, it will set them back

Looking forward to seeing how it plays out

Even if it was 5, still more than you and most other pie supporters

But 8 is very vivid
Awesome.

We've heard of Pies supporters on this thread who have seen 11.

But the facts are, nearly half the population of Australia haven't been alive for a Carlton Premiership, and that number is increasing by the year....

And it's been glorious.

We've heard from pie supporters, in this thread, that have seen 11? Good on them still being that tech savvy

Wondering how many pie supporters are still alive that have seen 8

Yes, certainly glorious

It was ugly this year. Loss to North would have topped it all off but wasn't to be.

Yep, Cerra fumbled it. Groundbreaking stuff.

If he takes clean possession Walsh is free as an outlet pass and he can take the ball forward to score as Nicky was as always, front running. That play the Pies were lucky the ball fumbled his way and he was able to take advantage of it.

Anyone who's played Footy at a decent level knows if you see ur teammate gathering possession u start positioning urself to be the outlet. Nobody with a half a brain positions themselves expecting their teammates to fumble an easy possession.

But the ball was deep in Collingwood's forward line.

Of course a smart player for Collingwood would be looking for an opportunity to score, whilst a smart player for the opposition should have a defence first mindset...

I mean, if there was one player in the competition you would ensure is accounted for in that situation, it would be Nick Daicos....

Again, it comes down to the numbers.

Probability of Collingwood scoring from that stoppage should they take clean possession - 95%.

Probability of Carlton scoring from that stoppage should they take clean possession - much less than 95%.

But that's the difference between a clutch team, and a team full of deers in headlights.
