Fair call. Ratings are subjective. (Though not sure many would have him ahead of Jezza).

The bottom line is, Cripps is arguably on the fringe of the best 10 players ever at Carlton.

Extrapolate that out for another 11 to 17 teams, and the claim that he's not in the top 100 of all time isn't that outlandish.

Carlton has one of the most storied historical playing lists of all time. Including 6 players in the AFL team of the Century (if you count Barassi) (that's six from only 21 players selected in that team FYI, or 30% of the team).

Saying that Cripps is on the fringe of the Top 10 of Carlton's history means he would therefore be only on the fringe of the Top 10 of other team's history is laughable.

Yep, put him in a GWS or a Freo guernsey, he is number 1. Would be number 2 behind GAJ Gold Coast and would be top 5 a lot of other clubs .
He is top 100 easily of all time

Carlton have entered a level of shitness that no other team in the history of the game has come near.

I suggest we need a completely new word to describe how they have performed this century, because it is like nothing we have ever seen before.

Any ideas?
Now be fair. If we are talking about this century which is just about 25 years in Gold Coast suns would be on a similar level?

I don't dispute that, but even if you go top 5 for every other club, with a few from the 13th to 18th clubs thrown in, Cripps is comfortably outside the top 50 of all time.

It doesn't mean he won't crack it before his career's done, but he's not there yet.

Some team success would help his chances.

Interesting position.

Who are they?
Off the top of my head, Pendles and Coventry? There may be a few older ones that I'm not aware of, but I can't really comment on the pre-80's period. Buckley and Peter Daicos likely cover Cripps over their career but both will be surpassed by the end of Cripps' career.

Collingwood never was the club of champions, have had good teams throughout history but rarely superstars.

A quarter of the AFL Team of the Century played for Carlton so it is pretty reasonable to state he is in the top50.

Blues hit the jackpot again with double-ups against North and West Coast lol, how do they do it?

Charlie licking his lips, Crippa banks 12 votes
West Coast I would expect to still be pretty poor in 2025 but North should be improving. I don't think they will be the easy beats people expect.
