I'm still chuckling at this.

Comparing Nick Daicos' second best season into a three year career with a season that you have proclaimed as 'one of the greatest seasons ever produced by a player', and there's only a marginal difference.

And Daicos did it single-handedly in a team that finished 9th, whilst Martin did it in a premiership team that were humming, where the gameplan was built around him.

One of the great self owns in the history of BigFooty.
Doesn't even come close to Dusty 2017 lmao

Happy Christmas to everyone on here and yes i include Pies supporters in that!🎄🎅

Looking forward to another epic year of fun and banter in 2025. If success and failure in sport is truly cyclical, then our time can't be too far away!

We'll just settle for finishing in front of Collingwood and then take things from there.

If that's what you call a team that finishes runner up in consecutive seasons to one of the best teams we've seen in the last 50 years, that's your prerogative.
Yes: pretenders. Never really in the running.

2002 - lost by 9 points after a late Akermanis goal sealed the victory;

2003 - Started favourites in the Grand Final after beating Brisbane in the Qualifying Final (do I need to explain to you what they are again)?

So no, Collingwood qualified as contenders in both those seasons... something Carlton hasn't done for a quarter of a century.

2002 what a finals series by the Pies

Limped into 4th spot before exploding against top side Port in the first final in a massive upset

Did the job v Adelaide in the prelim to make an unlikely GF

Teammanship

Then in the GF the mighty underdog Pies became the first team in 18 years to hit the front from behind in the last quarter of a GF

Pies have never looked back from that run and have been generally successful in finals ever since, regularly winning away finals and going deep into September with a couple of flags too

Meanwhile Carlton's biggest success since then is getting blown off the park by the Lions in successive years and still unable to win an away final or earn a top 4 spot, once were warriors now just a bunch of dreamers and fantasists
