Voss is signed until end of 2026. Doubt Carlton will sack him and pay out a year and a half of his contract.
It's funny - usual suspects voting on Voss to get the chop. All Collingwood and Freo supporters.

Pretty sure the rules were changed to be only a 6 month pay out. Not sure if it applied to existing deals or only new coach deals after the change.

If Carlton miss finals I think he will get the chop, Carlton fans severely over rate the list they have so expectations are high.

Don't agree with all of that. If Crows were 9th in an even year I could see him surviving, probably Goodwin too. Now if any of those clubs were to finish bottom four then the axe may come swiftly.
So you think Nicks after 6 seasons
With no finals and less than 50 wins in 125 games coached can survive?
I can see Goody survive onfield results with a flag in the back pocket but his off field might catch up with him and he might get the tap on the shoulder

I think there is a scenario where he survives. They have progressed since he started. 18th, 15th, 14th, 10th but now a drop back to 15th. If they were to rebound but just miss out and have a high percentage and just overall the year is super even then you could see the board backing him. So many sides are going to be expected to improve next year or atleast maintain their position but it's impossible, decent sides will miss again next year.

I get as well that it can be like "He's had five years" but he started at ground zero of the rebuild. It takes time to do it properly. I feel like bottom 4 is much more the danger zone for some of these coaches rather than missing finals. It's definitely an era where mediocrity is being accepted for longer.

I just compare him to longmuir as they started the same time.
Age and experience is similar
When nicks arrived it wasn’t ground zero
That was 18,19
Crows had picks 9,16 in 2018 super draft, pick 6 in 2019 draft and
3x top 30 picks
with fog and Tex fwd.
Nicks took them to the spoon though
But if crows want to keep him with 6 years of no finals
I will fully support the decision

I could have sworn the Longmuir had been there less time. The years just seem to disappear. In 2018/19 they finished 12th/11th so I was thinking more of like "New coach, clear everything out, finish bottom and build from there" in terms of like ground zero. I don't think Nicks has shown quite enough improvement but I still think in theory he could survive. It's basically 9 and above, he gets another year. Anything below I think probably gone. Not sure when he is contracted to but if they are in the 8 halfway through the year he will probably get an extra couple of years.

Edit: Just seen he is contracted to end of 2026. A bad year next year I think they bite the bullet. No finals in both year gone.
