Who will be the last team to be beaten by GC and GWS?

FWIW, GC/GWS play:

Hawthorn - Gold Coast (a), GWS (h)
Fremantle - Gold Coast (h), GWS (a)
Essendon - both are home games for the expansion sides
Adelaide - Gold Coast double up, GWS play them at home
West Coast - Gold Coast double up, GWS play them in Perth.

West Coast are certain to be the next team that falls.

Adelaide, Essendon, Fremantle and Hawthorn are very likely to make it through another year unscathed.

WCE look like they will have a tough year with so many injuries

otherwise they have a pretty good squad

Until we play Freo on the east coast, we will not stand a chance.

The AFL seems to have a fixation with sending is to NSW to play the swans every year (except this year). That sort of leaves us with you guys at home. I don't know why we aren't playing you guys over there this year. Would have much rathered that than hawthorn in Tasmania (again) - but we all know what happened the last time they came over here lol

Freo haven't played GWS in Sydney, and aren't likely to for another couple of years - most likely due to low numbers of Freo fans travelling to Sydney for that match. It would be huge for GWS to beat us at Subi - can't see it happening just yet.

Gold Coast would be a chance to beat us at home - they almost did in 2012.

What's the longest stretch a team has gone without a home game against another side?

We finally get Brisbane and Hawthorn this year and there a number we haven't played in Sydney, but the Freo thing is getting a bit annoying.

its how the league works. we haven't played west coast at home in years.

We haven't played Freo in Melbourne since 2009

Since 2004 we have only played Sydney at home twice - while we have played them 9 times away

If GC have Lynch and Dixon back for WC they'll win.
Lynch was suspended not injured, he'll be back for next week.

Dixon will likely be back by Rd 7 I'm pretty sure.

This is the 3rd year in a row we play Hawthorn in Tassie and I think the 5th year in a row Geelong at the cattery.

I've always wondered how WCE and Adelaide haven't blown a game against these guys yet.

It's the ladder groupings that are used to determine fixturing that is behind it.

11 home games, 10 once you take out the derby v Sydney. Then maybe 3 of them will be teams within your same 6 on the ladder (hence why you've played Melb, St Kilda, Dogs so much) meaning from the other 13 teams you could play you'll only play 7 of them at home.

By the time other regular fixturing games all go in the teams you play each year become somewhat stagnant.

The other thing is the AFL can cut down on travel having the North-East teams play each other and the WA and SA teams play each other so whether deliberate or not I'm sure it gets factored in to try and even out the travel miles from the West.

The number of people who would care for the GWS playing a home game against Freo is also very low I'm guessing. You just happen to be one of them!

They've been 2 of the best flat trackers of the last few years. You don't get that reputation unless you lift for the games against expansion sides.
