Why all the 'Saint Hate'?

Your game style is boring. Flood flood and then flood some more. Then you get all the 15m kick to kick in your D50. How can you not see it?

What you and others that form their opinions based on TV commentary don't understand, is that we have reacted to current rules and tactics that saw most teams flooding to stiffle our forward line. It's why Grant Thomas wasn't rated as a coach - couldn't react to a flood.

So now we get smart and don't allow other teams to use this tactic on us and we're the one being accused of being boring and ruining the game?

You've gotta laugh.

Bulldogs with a bit of luck with the umpires last night would have had your measure

I've never ever seen a team rely heavily on one player like St.Kilda does. God forbid he got injured. They'd be a fringe top 8 side at best.
Ah I see, you're simply another hater. :)

i wonder what would happen if i say " saints are to shit to win the grand final"

Someone would probably point to your obvious spelling error and then (just at a guess) point to the fact you're a Fremantle supporter.

I swear the people who say Saints fans are arrogant are tossers, It's called PASSION. From what your expecting you want us to go "Oh yeah were ****in shit" (Despite being Grand Finalists) and never sing another tune until we've won 16 more Premierships, Somehow changed the past to erase 26 Spoons and shut up till then! Well guess what, NOT Gonna happen! I will support my club, If we win 1 game for next year, I'll say what I will and troll anyone who says otherwise. I don't give a crap how good or bad we play, I'm passionate and I'll speak my mind, and the minute I truthfully say to myself "St Kilda is shit" is the day I stop following football, and that my dear friends, will NEVER happen.

I totally despise StKilda. I despise their supporters who are ignorant, arrogant morons.

I despise the fact that the men in yellow, red or green ( I refuse to call them umpires after last night} seem intent on gifting StKilda a flag.

I despise a club that is so cocky when they have got more wooden spoons than any club in history.

I despise the fact that their supporters in their thousands abuse the likes of Barry Hall and forget that they have some low=life specimens in their team.

There are further reasons but that will do for the moment,

Re: To all you muppets bleating about the saints win

So damn arrogant... the Dogs had to play out of their skins while your boys were just cruising, eh? So they had it under control the whole time and they just wanted it to be exciting at the end for the fans or something?
Arrogance is an interesting beast.

It is a very easy tag to throw at supporters of successful clubs by those of those of unsuccessful clubs - I know, I have been guilty of it myself at the local footy level. However things can easily change when the shoe is on the other foot.

If, (or when, in my view), the Saints take the flag next weekend, it will be interesting to see how many of their supporters take the success with good grace and how many become guilty of the very thing they have no doubt accused others of over the years.

Love all the blanket statements about "all their supporters are arrogant" from people who then point to this thread as an "example". If you base your opinions about a clubs supporters on a few posters on BigFooty, you might want to get your head checked or at least get off the internet for a little while.

tall poppy syndrome

Generalizations about clubs' supporter bases (whether based on Big Footy postings or wider football experiences) are par for the course here and are the domain of the ignorant.

You should hardly be surprised.

tall poppy syndrome

This is exactly it... one good season (that still has yet to produce anything) does not make you a tall poppy. None of the reasons I hate St Kilda are because they are successful. I hated them as much 10 years ago as I do today. Absolutely nothing to do with success.

My hatred for St Kilda is for one reason and one reason only. Stephen Milne. The dirty little dog would be doing time now if he was not an AFL player. I sure as hell do not want to see that little **** running around at the end of next weeks game celebrating. A very average player in big games who thinks he is better that he is.

I could handle a St Kilda win only if he has been dropped !!!

What on earth gives you the conviction to make that sort of statement?

The subsequent rage is funny but it staggers me that you & plenty of others could be so diffinitive about something you know nothing about.

Personally I reckon people WANT to believe it regardless of the facts and frankly that says more about you than it does him!

Why is everyone so anti-Saints this year?

I can understand the Collingwood and Geelong fans having little tantrums that the Saints got up last night - they're shiit scared and are bitter cause they both thought they had the Dogs' measure.

But why everyone else?

For the very reason contained in your own post.. arrogance and smart arse comments.. and you'd be the one club in the league that over 112 years has not earnt the right to be arrogant.

I pretty sure you can.

There are alot of arrogant Saints fans on BigFooty and there has been all year.

I doubt you could name 10 and back it up with evidence. You think if the pies ended up 20-2 you wouldn't have any arrogant supporters?

Don't kid yourself.

If Milne, Kosi and Baker weren't in the team it wouldn't be a problem and the fact that it was the doggies, would have loved to see them take the next step from last year and play in the GF. I think they would have performed a lot better against the cats than the saints will.

And the title of this thread has just been proven!!!! Much like the "large" guy in the lift last night that had the nerve to say to me "You cant be to disappointed...you got much closer then we ever thought you would"! PLEASE!!

Some see that as arrogance, some could see that as confidence. As already stated elsewhere, we had your measure 2x during the year, we lost 2 games for the year you would expect us to go into the game with the confidence that we could / would win. While it could be insulting in that the man did not give the dogs a hope, it is also a veiled compliment in that he admitted he was wrong as the doggies took it up past his expectations so you can't be too gutted about the endeavour, merely the result.

Entirely depends on the way you view the comment (or how it was delivered as I was obviously not in the lift :p).

Sad to see that there are so few St.K fans to actually admit that they were given so many soft frees...yes we stuffed our chances but to think that these didnt affect the game is ridiculous. (Thank you though to the one St.K supporter who actually grabbed me and my brother after the game, said 'bad luck and there is no way that Riewoldt deserved that free" so at least some of you are realistic!)

Because there is no point. Bad decisions happen, we cannot control them, we cannot stop them and we would not give up the victory if that were the outcome. Yes, we received some shocking decisions, but this is not our fault, this is not our failing and this should not be lumped upon us as it has been in sniping as you either get lucky or you do not with contentious decisions. You never lose or win a game of footy simply because of one instance, and as you stated, the Doggies missing their chances to capitalise on opportunity certainly did not help their cause as much if not more so than several contentious umpiring decisions.

In saying that, you will struggle to find a St Kilda supporter who honestly thinks we deserved to win that game over the dogs as they were the better team on the day, this however does not mean that we are not entitled celebrate or shout from the roof tops and instead share condolences and commiserations. I would not look too deeply into comments made directly after the match unless you base opnions and generalisations on moments of madness instead of who the individual actually is the other 98% of the time.

1) Stephen Milne
2) Leigh Montagna
3) Michael Gardiner
4) Steven Baker
5) Adam Schneider
6)Nick Riewoldt crying (also diving last night)
7) The Winning Streak DVD
8) Ross Lyon (the player)
9) Jim O'Dea
10) Their fans thinking they had the flag won at round 16
11) That they think they are a 'bigger' club than clubs like Bulldogs, Richmond and Melbourne.
12)Their fans in general (Jim O'Dea banner, comments after the game)

Highlighted for emphasis.

You were 5 years old when Lyon retired as a player. Smacks of hearsay to me.

There is a massive difference between passion and arrogance.

The funny thing is I bet there are people equally as "passionate" about their club but you would label them something derogatory in return.
