Good call, it pissed me off at the time, I still think his wife had a huge say in him not coming back to us. But for him to say what he did !! I did think more would be made of it at the time.

Was possibly simply how some of the boys responded to him when he visited. The guys that were around at the time of his departure may have still been holding a grudge about the way he left, and rightly so in my opinion.

Boys boys boys. These club vids, the interviews, the complete fluff. They all do them. It’s the reason why I don’t watch any football related shows bar one or two.
They are all as cliched as ****. Every club. Every player. They are all too scared to say anything of substance. All clubs , not just EFC.

I just feel like, doesn't it make sense to play him down back given BZT offers nothing and without Stewart for a while we're lacking another tall option which means that Ridley has to play that role. It also just makes sense to me given that we can put Martin on a wing and Durham on the other, which means that Cox doesn't need to play that role.

I get the logic in throwing him around and letting him play that sort of swing role, but I just think history shows that for a player to really find their feet that they need to lock down a position and stick with it.

I am beginning to think that the club collectively believed they were better placed post making the finals last year. The pats on the back rang loudly and IMO may have taken the edge off even a couple of percent.

The harsh reality was we were smashed in the second half of the final which should have set off some red flags, esp from a physical hardness point of view.

It is clear we were not raring to go round 1. Injuries, Tippa situation and form have left us shell shocked and maybe realising we haven't done the hard work.

Lots of soul searching going on, can we turn it around? Anzac Day is pivotal in trying to salvage some pride.

Maybe we needed a Sheedy moment after last years final instead of the back slapping 'I didn't hold back': Sheedy's serve after 1983 GF

Indeed, but there is also no point showing up for a quarter like we did against Brisbane after the rd 1 shocker. Has to be a 4 quarter effort this week, win, lose or draw.

The players need to learn that they will never achieve anything unless they give 4 qtr efforts for a full season. It doesnt even guarantee a flag, but its a requirement to even be in the conversation.

You're right of course. But...I have to say I was impressed by Darcy Moore on On the Couch a couple of weeks ago. He was articulate and media-aware. I particularly liked the way he deflected questions he didn't want to answer by asking the questioner what they thought.

Obviously I'm being tounge in cheek but to say they haven't been doing certain things to an AFL standard is damning and a good insight into the conversations that have taken place at the club this week.

I think there have been some choice words about our performance in the midfield especially. I think this shows us the hard line that will be drawn by Truck and the club on sub standard performance in the future. It will certainly contrast to the Worsfold era and these times are needed so minimum standards can be set.

Question is now does all this translate into 4 quarter efforts on ANZAC day and beyond?

More damning to admit that some of those things were known about and then let slide, as opposed to 'if you can't do it, you don't play'. Sounds ruthless – but needs to be carried through.
