Why can't Adelaide retain players?

Maybe you should give your own club advice, as we don't seem to have trouble, attending games, increasing membership, getting sponsors because we live in the 21st century
I am personally very interested in your ‘we don’t seem to have trouble ... getting sponsors’ comment. In fact football club sponsorship is a pet subject, and science, of mine.

Your major sponsor - singular, that means one only - fell in your lap in the the twentieth century - NOT 21st - when you were formed in a f*** Port Adelaide frenzy; you’ve had no other major sponsor ever since. Indeed you have had ‘no trouble’. You haven’t needed to try. Your sole major sponsor isn’t real, to be honest, it’s a cobbled-together society of Toyota dealerships many owned by Crows ambassadors. Wow. What an impressive ‘get’. Asked them for a raise lately?

As for your minor sponsors they are a motley bunch (pun intended).
And don’t come at me with China Southern Airlines, who fit your image such as it is like an Englishman fits a kilt. You didn’t have to try there either. They also fell in your lap, or should I say the lap of your croney-loving chairman who heads up the Adelaide Airport Authority.
And they are no ‘major’ sponsor, not for you and not for Melbourne with whom you share them. They are actually more minor than you realise. Check thru your website and see how prominently they are displayed. Not.

This armchair financial ride the AFC has suckled on since 1990 has helped create the elite, entitled, arrogant, blueblood aristo no-need-to-make-the-effort attitude and non-culture at West Lakes which goes some distance in answering the OP question: ‘Why can’t Adelaide retain players?’
You haven’t earnt their loyalty with blood & sweat to begin with. Tears, yes, I’ll grant you that.

The reason we get sponsors is we have the majority of the state in supporters

If you were a company would you sponsor a team that has more or less supporters

You don't have to be a brain surgeon to work out which you would rather sponsor

Seriously

Thats your opinion which you are entitled to but hey, you opinion means squat to the AFC. He is a defender (and the third defender) - did you actually watch our games when he was one on one?

You have confirmed you have NFI.
You don't see a lot of football, do you? which is very obvious from your comments.
But I guess you are just trolling and have nothing football related to add to the conversation.
Lol look at you two. Acting like children.

I value levers importance to a team more than Laird and brad crouch. 21 year old up and coming defender already in the AA squad. Stop crying and attacking people when someone has a different opinion to you.

Don't have a problem with you having an opinion but for your third defender to be your highest paid player. Seriously.

Oh dear.
Everyone wants to be a port player because they know they get 20% overs and dont have to play finals.

You dont just keep every player regardless of how much it costs. I would've thought that it was pretty obvious.
Thats how you end up with Matthew Lobbe getting ridiculous money to play SANFL.

You signed Lobbe, we didnt sign Tippet. Who won out of that?
You got kicked out of the draft for two years, so I guess you won that one.

That wasn’t my opinion, maybe if you didn’t jump to conclusions and stop attacking people over the internet you could had understood it.

I am not talking about money, as I stated. IMO Lever >>> Laird and Brad Crouch.

No, the rest was just a sooky la la and showing an inferiorty complex to your bigger brother.

so you didn't understand the point about the toyota camry branding? you can PM me for a detailed explanation so the thread can stay on topic.

wait what is the topic again??

So you have looked at the science, have you, do you hear comments about national bais compared to local bias. Do you understand how much value perception has when calculating sponsorship?
Yes of course you do, does having a perception of being a local club hider your club in getting sponsors. just curious, as you seem to knowable on the subject.

Yes we have one major sponsor who just happens to chip in more money than both your joint major sponsors from 2017,
And more than Oak and you new Joint sponsor for 2018 which your club will be announcing in a few weeks,
By the way, we have had that same sponsor since inception, which you know, and have kept them happy with the deal. they get great coverage on the new platforms, yes the Crows work with their sponsors on several different platforms, not just match day or Football.
How many hits did Port major sponsor get last year? did they get value?
Crows sponsors received great value and above average hits which is why we get more dollars.
Motley bunch interesting comment in regards to sponsorship. must be a troll comment because if you actually studied the "science" you would know better.
By the way, do you actually know what part of Toyota actually sponsor the Crows? yes it a test of your knowledge.

End of the day who cares about what you think. the Crows gain more money in sponsorship than Port. A lot more and that gap is growing and that should concern you, here's a tip let go of Local push a little, you supporters are actually harming your club by clinging on to the 1800's

Adelaide has the same issues with retaining players as Port do. look at the last 10 years Crows 14 Port 13 for Players requesting trades or moves. The difference being is the Crows had better players to lose. But before you go on about it. I suggest you wait because in the next 3 years you may lose 2 players you want to keep, but I will let Rucci handle that one.

Your last comment highlights your total lack of knowledge on that subject. you don't know the Club you don't know the players, And you don't know the situations for each player reason to move.

My friend considering your Chinese ties I am surprised you have no workable knowledge of Sun Tzu works.

Anyway nice chatting to you, best of luck in you next venture.

Interesting again how much of Lever have you seen, he will be a top player, but he will not be elite too slow to be brutally honest has a wide turning circle. He reads the play well, but one on One has a few issues. which may improve over time, jury out.
Because to be honest he is not the player the Crows will miss he is replaceable.
B Crouch has the ability to be a match-winner and will be a future AA. But time will tell.
I would save your ammo until end of next year when we will see if Lever can take the next step. so far all he has done is played, 3rd tall defender.

There is not a more appropriate sponsorship in world sport than Toyota Camry and the Adelaide Crows.
I seem to recall they originally branded themselves as the Mighty Camry Crows ?

Why is it whenever an Adelaide player is rumoured to be considering leaving - they invaribly do?

The only 2 in recent memory that haven't were Jenkins and McGovern - the reason? Because they were offered big fat contracts.

Re Dangerfield, mate everyone is from somewhere. You can always go back
I've stated a couple of times in this thread that in order to create a real, traditional football club culture and atmosphere where players and members feel like a part of something special, your team has to have real clubrooms. The funny thing is, this "Roovolution" you speak of will never allow it happen. Too many personal conflicts of interest and fingers in pies. Just goes to show the kind of culture that permeates at your "club"

Individual > the bigger picture

You really can't blame anyone for looking out for number 1.
You got kicked out of the draft for two years, so I guess you won that one.

And yet still managed to draft better than Port. We do everything better than Port.

Great sponsor who have been with us from day one. One of the longest sponsorships in world sport I believe. pity Port can't pull off a koo like that.

Like how you try and change the subject from getting flogged by us (but still trying to claim to be better lol).
