Wikileaks founder and good North man Julian Assange

Wouldn't want Colombia as a sponsor. Who recalls their soccer player who bit the bullet, literally. Though on the other hand we'd have the best goal kicking team in history. Nobody would be game to miss.

I hope Heath's stage managing his exit from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London to include Assange bursting through a "Free Assange" banner, sponsored by Mazda. I want to see him sporting the OFFICIAL staff tracksuit top replete with all sponsors when he's nabbed, if he's nabbed, as well. F*** it, let's get him face painted in Royal Blue and White verticle stripes to top it off.

Hilarious to see him walk out with a North jersey on.

Sounds like a joke, but there's literally talk of 'shipping' Assange to Ecuador in a diplomatically protected crate.
Yep, apparently diplomatic bags are sacrosanct, as are the couriers. Perhaps deck the bag out in blue and white? Or an official royal blue and white couriers uniform.

The bag and the courier are sacrosanct but the Brits reserve the right to delay any diplomatic bag, just not open it. So all they have to do is hold up the crate until Assange is busting for a crap.

On another note, Sweden is acting like Adrian Anderson in all this.

The situation reeks of barely veiled US involvment.

Assange has said he will go to Sweden to face the charges as long as Sweden and the US say they won't secretly hand him over to the US govt to be taken back to America.

Sweden refuses to make the promise and the US is cute with its words "The US has no plans to extradite Mr. Assange" ... very strange choice of words... No plans... plans change.

For another, that country has a disturbing history of lawlessly handing over suspects to the US. A 2006 UN ruling found Sweden in violation of the global ban on torture for helping the CIA render two suspected terrorists to Egypt, where they were brutally tortured (both individuals, asylum-seekers in Sweden, were ultimately found to be innocent of any connection to terrorism and received a monetary settlement from the Swedish government).

Perhaps most disturbingly of all,Swedish law permits extreme levels of secrecy in judicial proceedings and oppressive pre-trial conditions, enabling any Swedish-US transactions concerning Assange to be conducted beyond public scrutiny. Ironically, even the US State Department condemned Sweden's "restrictive conditions for prisoners held in pretrial custody", including severe restrictions on their communications with the outside world.

I have never liked the Swedes - up themselves flogs with a nasty history of their own - and like them even less now.

If he gets extra'd to Sveeden, we should pass around the hat to fund a rescue mission:

OzzyOslo could head up operations.

Mazda provides the getaway car.

World Vision provides the cover.

JZ provides the muscle.

RACV insures the whole gig.

etc, etc.

I was having a discussion with my old man about this last night. He seems very confident that we will never see Julian Assange's face in public again.

He will "commit suicide" within the year.
