FFS Mods, please get ship this thread out to Bay 13 or shut it down. Any reasonable and constructive discussion has become impossible.

Good call the Colliwobbles get angry at anyone even suggesting that another team could win the flag.

I'll admit were not serious contenders unless something changes dramatically in the second half of the season. But Hawthorn, West Coast, Essendon and Adelaide shouldn't be taken likely. It's not a 1 or even 2 horse race. There are 5 sides who are genuine chances and three other sides who might not be good enough to go all they way but will certainly be good enough to knock off their opposition if they drop their guard.

I'll name the players. He clearly said throughout the year, so I'll list 11 players (and raise you 2) who've missed 2 or more weeks through injury this year:
Swan - Fallen behind Beams and Sidebottom
Pendlebury - Good player
Ball - See Swan
Krakouer - Old, slow, coming off knee surgery
Keefe - Kid who is a bit of a battler
Johnson - Career battler
Shaw - Ok player, unaccountable
Tarrant - Almost finished
Brown - Overrated on the back of one good season
Reid - Showed a lot in last years GF (insert "He was injured!!!" here)
Didak - Finished
Thomas - Shadow of his former self
Macaffer - Battler
Toovey - Battler

Yes, looks like you've been missing some quality players there, matey.

You said all year champ not throughout the year, every club has missed most of their personnel at one point or another so its a really stupid point your are making here.

We have consistently had 6-10 players missing EVERY match.

We have never come even close to fielding a best 22 this year.

Swan - Brownlow medallist, AA, premiership player
Pendlebury - AA, premiership player, form midfielder
Ball - AA, premiership player, main inside midfielder (season)
Krakouer - 35 goals last year. (season)
Keefe - did well playing as the lone tall defender while having no experience.
Johnson - premiership player, best small defender. (season?)
Shaw - AA, premiership player
Tarrant - AA x 2, has missed most of the season thus far
Brown - premiership player, coming back after a year out.
Reid - AA defender, premiership player. Has missed alot of games this season
Didak - AA, premiership player. Has missed most of the season and may not come back. (season?)
Thomas - AA, premiership player. Has missed a lot of football this year.
Macaffer - premiership player. (season)
Toovey - premiership player, excellent running defender.
Maxwell - premiership captain. Missed early part of the season.
Sinclair - after a shaky start, has improved each week before missing on the weekend.

To be fair, three people who aren't Collingwood supporters have done the lions' share of derailing this thread.

Think that's a pretty fair assessment.

Funniest, most delusional post I have read in some time.

You are truly certifiable!

Now do one for the Geelong best 22 and give us your opinion on each player there for levity...

Go on...do it...

Surely you are not going to deny that Macaffer and Toovey are both battlers? I might have had fun with a few in there, but these two are clear cut spuds, playing a very simple role in an organised team.

Maxwell is the exact same, and Collingwood fans know it.

They'll get the Colliwobbles... Just like they did last year and almost did in 2010. ;)

(P.S. I honestly think their going to be very hard to beat.)

I always laugh at Geelong supporters bringing up the "Colliwobbles".

Would you care to tell us what it felt like during your 44 years of shame where your grand finals record was even worse than ours?

Do you want to expand on what went wrong when you lost the "unloseable flag" in 2008?

2008 was statistically the GREATEST season any team ever had in the AFL...only one loss for the entire season (to Collingwood)...yet you soiled yourselves to lose the unloseable Grand Final.

Tell me, if Collingwood have the Colliwobbles, how do you explain 67, 89, 92, 94, 95 and 2008?

Throw in 1980 when you finished clear on top of the ladder yet got dumped out in straight sets.

We may as well revisit when Nicky Davis kicked four goals in less than ten minutes for Geelong to completely soil their pants in 2005?

If you are going to throw out lines like "Colliwobles", you better be prepared for the flak coming the other way bud.

Yes, some of them are not top 10 in our team, but they're all best 22. Could I please have a rating for Geelong's current 22? I would assume, from your ranking of our players, you would have 21 "battlers"/"finished" and Selwood as "ok" but "unaccountable"

McCaffer before the onset of OP was a KEY component to our success in 2010.

Watch all Collingwood games from Round 16 that year to see his impact.

Watch the first half of the Grand Final Replay...McCaffer was clearly most effective forward taking marks, tackling like a mad man, linking up and kicking two vital goals.

Injury has cruelled him ever since - so we may never see him reach those heights again.

Toovey is an excellent running mid sized defender. On of our first picked.

Go back and watch one of your favourite games from last year - Geel vs Coll.

Pies leading by 17 points midway through third quarter and the Hawkins collided with Toovey and he was effectively gone for the season from there.

His removal on a stretcher effected our defensive structure in that game...a game we subsequently went on to lose in extremely controversial circumstances.

Toovey is only just starting to come back to his best this season.

Maxwell is the organizer of our defence...not a great player, but better skilled than Harley.

There is a role in every team for such players.

Stupid thread... We have as good a chance as anyone in the top 8. Most players have won a premiership before so we know they are mentally capable. We have the talent but comes finals time your team needs to be fit a firing... Will we be who knows pointless debating something no one can predict

That has been my response to the thread as well. But it is funny reading it/participating in the banter

Exactly.

If we cop one or two more season ending injuries, we will be effectively finished.

It all boils down to which teams arrive in September in good shape and with a top four position preferable.

Outside of that, there are no guarantees.

You are kidding yourself mate, are you taking the piss? Maxwell wishes he was half the player Harley was, Toovey is a nothing player and injury has nothing to do with this. McCaffer was used as trade bate in the pre season. Hahaha could you over rate these spuds any more?

Wow the trash in this thread should just be moved to the bay.

Let's just end this thread with a one word answer:

Yes

...But in all seriousness its just not worth even having a thread about this because you get both sides of the debate just talking absolute trash which gets the people interested in having a proper discussion nowhere

Is Toovey actually one of your first picked? I would imagine your first picked would probably be Pendlebury, then Cloke.

Then you'd probably have blokes like Swan, Thomas, Reid, Sidebottom, Beams (obviously I'm skipping over the injured Ball here), and then a third tier of guys like Brown, Tarrant, Jolly, Shaw etc.

Maybe after that, you'd look at picking Toovey.

Such a shit post mate. Swan, ball, Reid, Shaw, Brown all no good? Seriously don't bother posting if that's all you have to contribute.

As for the Pies, my feeling is that they won't win this year. They're mostly playing like they did in the latter part of 2011, when they were winning games through bursts of play, but looking very shaky at times.

You have massively overrated Harley - an uber dud to go along with Josh Hunt.

McCaffer wasn't offered for trade...you have your wires crossed, his manager put him on the market to coax a better offer from Collingwood.

Given that he missed nearly all of last season with injury, and now all of this one with injury, I would suggest that his manager ovarrated his worth.

Go back and watch the first half of the 2010 GF replay. McCaffer was immense for a second tier player.

Toovey has pace and a good kick. Also shuts down opponents.

On teh subject of trades, however, would you care to elaborate why Geelong offered up Stevie Johnson to Collingwood in 2006 (for a moderate trade, I might add) and they also offered up at the same time Bartel and Kelly (for a slightly higher cost)?

What was the thought process behind that?

I agree, first picked is an exaggeration. Hasn't been thhe same since getting crunched by Hawkins, but could come back to form. I agree he is probably on the outer edge of the 22.
Top 10 picked would be (in order, IMO (have I forgotten anyone obvious?))
Cloke
Pendlebury
Jolly
Swan
Beams
Sidebottom
Reid
Thomas
Brown
Shaw
