You have massively overrated Harley - an uber dud to go along with Josh Hunt.

McCaffer wasn't offered for trade...you have your wires crossed, his manager put him on the market to coax a better offer from Collingwood.

Given that he missed nearly all of last season with injury, and now all of this one with injury, I would suggest that his manager ovarrated his worth.

Go back and watch the first half of the 2010 GF replay. McCaffer was immense for a second tier player.

Toovey has pace and a good kick. Also shuts down opponents.

On teh subject of trades, however, would you care to elaborate why Geelong offered up Stevie Johnson to Collingwood in 2006 (for a moderate trade, I might add) and they also offered up at the same time Bartel and Kelly (for a slightly higher cost)?

What was the thought process behind that?
I dont know what the process was behind that trade situation im a Swans supporter. Ben Johnson is a "Uba" Spud as you like to say.

I agree, first picked is an exaggeration. Hasn't been thhe same since getting crunched by Hawkins, but could come back to form. I agree he is probably on the outer edge of the 22.
Top 10 picked would be (in order, IMO (have I forgotten anyone obvious?))
Cloke
Pendlebury
Jolly
Swan
Beams
Sidebottom
Reid
Thomas
Brown
Shaw

Mate, stars pick themselves. They are lock ins.

I am talking about after your stars, who do you pick?

Toovey is one of the first in. Malthouse even used the expression "one of the first picked" for Toovey.

If he is fit - he plays automatically everytime.

Both under Malthouse and Buckley.

Yeah, ok. I thought you meant before the stars. Swan, Reid etc.

Ill ask again because you didnt reply the first time, what will your excuse be if the Bloods knock off the Pies in a few weeks?

What was the thought process of not getting them? Angling to get more priority pickss down the track?

With the ability to lock down the games best small forwards (Milne, Betts and Le Cras all struggle to get a kick on him), the ability nail long range running goals.

Throw in an 80% plus disposal efficiency (better than many of the games established "stars") and you have a bloke who is very important to Collingwood.

You must be fu<ken kidding...

... and that was just after he put us in front.

Yes, I am well aware of what happened 2 weeks later...

Yes, we were smashed and Didak was our leading goal kicker with 3.

A fit Didak always plays well in finals.

Pies supporters have to understand that Didak is finished and is no longer in their best 22 even when fit.

I guess it will be a great effort from the Swans and they would have been the better team. However, this is a redundant line of reasoning, as it is like saying "what will you say when GWS beat you?"
You can't ask for an excuse before an event. Yes, the Swans are a chance to knock us off and if they do, it'll be a great effort. However, let's wait for it to happen

You will be able to tell us all about in the next five years as your "Golden Generation" starts to retire.

Pretty sure our "Golden Generation" has already started leaving mate.

We seem to be drafting ok, considering where we have been finishing the last 5 or so years. (1st, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 1st)...

Also lost Ablett, in case you'd forgotten. 50 possessions in our midfield would be pretty handy this season, dare I say it would make us instant premiership favourites again.

Yes this is a reasonable response however your mate Cooldwd has completely ruled out a Swans win which is why I was asking what would be his reasoning if the impossible happened and Swans did happen to knock the Pies off.

We beat you by 10 goals in the 2010 prelim when you had Ablett lol.

What's it like, picking inside the top 5? Getting priority picks? Please tell me.
Only if you tell me what's it like having a severe inferiority complex despite winning 3 out of the last 5 flags :)

We have played finals every year ever since then dufus.

Stevie J was a known alcoholic that Geelong wanted to dump. Throw in that he hurt his ankle badly that preseason in a drunken romp and the medical opinion was that he may never recover to play consistently ever again.

His ability was never in question - his attitude and ankle were a concern. Hence why Collingwood passed.

After being banned by his own team mates from the seniors for the first 8 rounds in 2007, Johnson was finally brought back in.

Bartel and Kelly, both had a higher asking price...and at that point (2006), had done didly squat to justify such lofty expectations.

History tells us that Stevie J has barely had another injury since and has controlled his behavioural issues and Bartel and Kelly have both been super from 2007 onwards.

But at that time (2006) any of Stevie J, Bartel, Kelly and even Chappy were up for trade for the right price.

It seems a long time ago now, but after Collingwood crushed Geelong by 108 points, Frank Costa called a crisis meeting the following Monday and put everyone fromn the coach down on notice.

Costa made Bomber apply for his own job again (which Bomber was very shitted off with at the time).

It shows you how things can change pretty quickly.

Mate you realise everything that is printed in the Herald Sun isn't true right? Your stories are humorous, SJ Chappy and Bartel up for trade but McCaffer only being shopped around to get a better wage??? hahah you should write for the Herald Dumb.

How many father - son selections have geel had in their premiership sides in recent times? Has been a bigger advantage for geel than 1 priority pick Coll got in 2005

Scarlett, Ablettx2, Blake, Hawkins have all played in premierships.

But let's not forget that not every father-son is a gun... We also took David Clarke, Tim Callan and Adam Donohue...

And perhaps it's a bit rich coming from a Collingwood fan, suggesting Geelong have it good with F/S picks?? Cloke, Shaw spring to mind, as well as their respective dreadful siblings/cousin, Jaxson Barham another beauty for you guys. Nick Davis too.

I always laugh at Geelong supporters bringing up the "Colliwobbles".

Would you care to tell us what it felt like during your 44 years of shame where your grand finals record was even worse than ours?

Do you want to expand on what went wrong when you lost the "unloseable flag" in 2008?

2008 was statistically the GREATEST season any team ever had in the AFL...only one loss for the entire season (to Collingwood)...yet you soiled yourselves to lose the unloseable Grand Final.

Tell me, if Collingwood have the Colliwobbles, how do you explain 67, 89, 92, 94, 95 and 2008?

Throw in 1980 when you finished clear on top of the ladder yet got dumped out in straight sets.

We may as well revisit when Nicky Davis kicked four goals in less than ten minutes for Geelong to completely soil their pants in 2005?

If you are going to throw out lines like "Colliwobles", you better be prepared for the flak coming the other way bud.
Laughable how easily you people are riled up. It was a tongue in cheek remark.
I even said at the end I think you are going to be hard to beat this year yet you go on a 5 paragraph rant. Bit touchy or are you actually worried?

I thought Nick Davis ended up ok champion.

Woaaagghhh steady on there!!!

I haven't ruled it out at all.

I just pointed out some facts for you to ponder over...because you were the one who was confident of it happening.

The law of averages suggests that you will win one day, but given the fact that we nearly never play you in Melbourne, it is amazing that you haven't been able to beat us on your own dung heap since 2005.

Even in 2005 and 2004, (during our down years) your boys only managed to win both those games up in Sydney by less than a kick.

I do not to come up with any reasons before the event. I can just point to recent data.

So if I refer to your team constantly from now on as the "Handbaggers", you won't mind then? After all, it is all tongue in cheek and all that!

I am as confident AND worried as much as the next football supporter who supports any other team.

That is the nature of footy - there are no certainties as you painfully know as much as we do.

Classic back track, you and I both know you ruled it out. I am confident the Swans will win because they have improved a great deal since last year, we only lost by a kick last year so given the improvement we should be right dont you think?
