Was about to post similar. We also beat 3 of the top 4 teams this year.I was pretty meh about whether we played finals or not as ive mentioned a few times.
However, i disagree that we dont deserve it, 12 wins and a decent percentage has you thereabouts most years. We also had a top 6 draw, had many injuries in the first half of the year, while Carton, Stkilda et al had easier draws, so we definitely deserve our spot. id be interested in looking at the final expected score ladder as well.
I presume we'll be playing in Perth on Friday evening Sept 2nd?
No way, there are so many more twists and turns left - I think 13 wins is the threshold and will be very surprised if it isn't.
Carlton may also drop their bundle entirely and lose their last 3 (Brisbane Gabba, Melbourne, Collingwood).
Don't you know we're the only team that benefits from a week off. We’re certainly one team in the 8 that really should benefit with a week off.
Not quiteI see two scenarios happening.
We stink it up in Launceston as usual and then carlton lose.
Or we smack hawthorn and carlton win so it’s irrelevant.
This years has been a theme of a wasted year and I’m not expecting that to change
Don’t forget our dire 5 point win last week kicking one goal in the last quarter and Melbourne beating Blues by 5 points on the last kick of the game. Amazing really.Amidst all the euphoria of us winning and Carlton losing, it's worth pondering, just for a moment, just how good that was.
We had to win by 4 goals more or less. We won by 23 points.
Carlton losing by 1 point was the bare minimum we required. A win to Carlton and we're gone. A draw and we're gone. What did we get? A Carlton 1 point loss. You can't write that sh1t!
I’m happy we made it but those were the two scenarios I was expecting all day, made it easier to listen to the Carlton game expecting the worseNot quite
If you didn't like today, you don't like footy.Today has been the most pumped I’ve been all year watching the footy. Hopefully the boys are feeling the spirit and we have a massive crack at this.

If we win we play loser of Cats v PiesSo if we beat the Dockers do we play the loser of Cats-Pies or Dees-Swans? Thought it was the former but AFL site reckons not.

Agree 100%. The concept of deserving anything is sport is silly. You get what you win. You can't logically have something you don't deserve.Lots of talk about deserve this and deserve that. You deserve what you get in this game. Despite a tough year where we’ve taken a step back and had a hard time being the team we should be, we deserve to be in the top 8.
Why?
Because we won as many games as Carlton and had a better %. And we had a tough draw (the toughest) and they had an easy one.
We deserve to be mentioned in their breath too because you shake your head at the talent on both lists. Both need to be more professionally run into the future but have a lot to like.
We’re better though and we were clutch these last two weeks and they choked.
Of course the other team that had a tough draw this year was Melbourne and they have thoroughly outperformed us this year… so a bit to work on haha
