Am I wrong in saying that we did offer Chappy a year extension? I love the bloke but it's not like we didn't give him the option of playing a great year and proving that he deserved another one. These guys know it's a business and run their careers accordingly. I won't be booing him but I'm not about to snot someone who does.

Im only booing show clause players.

Do we have a list with their playing numbers available?
Shouldn't be too hard to find. Just Google 'Essendon playing list 2012'

I understand people not wanting to boo him in general play. What about set shots at goal etc.

Cats by 5 points with only seconds left. Chappy marks 45m out directly infront. Siren goes.

Anyone want to boo with me?
Shell might be right and booing him will only help kick the goal.

It really doesn't matter.

If we'd offered him 3 years and he moved I just could not boo him.

Deep inside my head I will silently boo the sight of him in those horrible colours. My jaw will clench and my eyes narrow, as with an old achy, reoccurring pain, but I won't actually boo the man.
Brilliant post.

Just heard him described as "Essendon veteran Paul Chapman"! It makes sense to me... I always thought his time with us was a dream! :D

Another area where your "gunna sting" byline is appropriate.
Even worse last night when he said 'I know how they play."
Don't want to be infantile but.....Wahhh.

My memory is that one year extension was for 2013.

Nope, he'll always be a true champion of our Club and an initiator of the changes in 2007 that brought on our great era.

And my missus still wants to boof him.
I'm with your wife, well maybe not boof, but I have front row seats for the game, and if Chappy gets close enough I'll give him a kiss on his bald head and thank him for all he's done for our club :thumbsu:.

No wrong allrighty Chapman had little or nothing to do with the changes in 2007-read members demands, Board not supporting Thompson unless Balme was brought in and Leading Teams. Read Scarletts book for the overall changes that all players made to their preparation and game.
Chapmans stupidity, and a little bit of MRP, were the difference in losing against Hawthorn in last years prelim. Chapman in and we would have won.

We don't know that and can't know that. The team without Chapman was good enough to go 20 points up at three quarter time. The team was good enough to beat Hawthorn in Round 15 last year without him too.

Well said. We could just as easily say that if Hawthorn kicked at goal better, they wouldn't have allowed us to stay in the game at half time and three quarter time.

And had Geelong not played the "man" in 1989 instead of the ball we may have one that GF too!

Definitely boo anyone with Cats gear on who cheers him. He's an opposition player now for goodness sake.
Fair enough.

When an opposition player takes a screamer or kicks a goal from the boundary do you clap? Or say, "wow that was awesome"
I do.

But yes, I wouldn't be cheering Chappy for getting the ball etc.
