Interesting that in article http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...s-he-has-coached/story-fnp04d70-1227326447689
Malthouse makes the comment about Ben Cousins:
“I didn’t have him (Cousins) for long ... I would have liked to have kept in touch, but it never happened,” he says.
Cousins was drafted in 1995 under father-son.
He played 20 games in 1996
He played 18 games in 1997
He played 23 games in 1998. He also won all-australian
He played 22 games in 1999. He also won all-australian again.
And at the end of 1999 Michael Malthouse left West Coast to come to coach Collingwood. So after 83 games coaching Cousins to the position where he was an integral part of the WC team, Malthouse would have said that he didnt have Cousins for long and presumably had little impact on him, either in a football sense or a personal sense...
Just MM clarifying that it wasn't his fault.
Fresh dilemma: on Friday do I wear my Collingwood premiership scarf with the photo of Mick and the boys on the rostrum on it, in honour of Mick; or I do I wear my vintage, pure wool Collingwood scarf in support of Aussie farmers - another AFL theme for the round??????
The banter thread is bit further down; probably more appropriate. But some of us have learnt from Mick to be bitter until the end and then some.FMD...bitterness abounds around here...

Enjoy celebrating a Carlton coaching great who is about to get the arse. Will be comical to see the reception he gets from his loyal Carlton supporters.
Fantastic achievement but I wouldn't expect an opposition supporter to understand or even appreciate that many of us know what went on post 2010 GF when it came to Mick at least fulfilling his contractual agreement to mentor Buckley. Then we had TFS interview.Ye...I've been in your banter thread as well as my own...
Just thought a bloke who delivered one of the two flags you've won in the last 50-odd years (as well as taking you to the big dance on three other occasions) would not be the focus of so much derision. Add to that the fact that MM's achievement spans four clubs, not just our two, and I think my surprise at the bitterness is fair enough.
In any case, I'm not here to teach you all how to suck eggs...nor to get into an argument. Good luck Friday night, let's hope both teams bring their best and it's a cracker game.
I feel ambivalent about Malthouse's big night. He's currently the coach of Carlton; the man who refused to honour his contract and left us in the lurch But he's a Collingwood premiership coach and maybe that excuses almost everything.
Where do you stand on this? I'm trying to source my inner Dalai Lama and rise above any petty resentment. But it's a struggle.
I'm struggling too .. All I know is that Nathan Buckley has always treated and spoke about him with utmost respect and for some reason Mick always comes across as a sour puss .. Didn't Buckley approach him prior to accepting the coaching job and ask for his blessing ?? Mick apparently told him to go for it and then started attacking the move by not honouring the 3 yr contract as Director of Coaching and we know the rest ......
We should've won in 2011 but no it was all about Mick that year .. I doubt he would've been sacked had we gone back to back but that's life
I'll congratulate him now but it's not in my blood to cheer anything navy blue on the night of our game against the arch enemy .. No hoorays and no boo's when he comes out onto the G but when the teams take their positions I'll be booing my lungs out at anything scum
Cheers Snaggy
Malthouse skin is a bit thick, I prefer to do it in the oven on a high heat then cover it and turn the heat down, just so the skin jack crisps up.personally, i got a small weber late last year and I'm a big fan. I have cooked all the meats and they've all come up fantastic so I dont see why putting Malthouse in the weber would be any different.
in fact, I've heard that malthouse tastes like pork and the weber does pork a treat....high recommended. I would stay clear of toasting malthouse as he's kinda old and I dont think a quick hit with some heat is going to soften him up. That's where the weber does a great job. It really works well with old tough birds and a lot of grizzle ...

Agreed, the bloke is 1 of 2 living Collingwood premiership coaches. Despite all that has happened since I think we as a supporter group need to at least acknowledge his tenure at our clubToast.
Would be an extremely poor look for our supporters to be booing him when breaking the games coaching record regardless of how you currently feel about him.
Media & opposition supporters would go to town on us. Don't give them a reason to do so.
