60% Vegan meals no one wants to eat

Three drag queens carrying the torch

Cardboard eco beds

No aircon to “save the planet”

Athletes are leaving the village and staying elsewhere.
Still, better than some Olympics where they had sewage in their rooms.

This stuff = failing, does it? I'm tuning in for a bit most nights, seems to be going fine ¯\(ツ)

In particular, athletes not being happy about accommodation seems like a pretty regular occurrence, struggling to remember an olympics where it hasn't been mentioned actually.

Had a look - and the articles seem to be uncomfortable beds and cramped quarters.

Mainly, big stars who don't want to hang out with the povo amateurs.

Since the pros started going the US basketball team has never stayed in an Olympic village as far as I know.

I think they were on a luxury yacht or something for the last one.

So, three of these seem to be borne out to some extent from some athletes.

One seems to be something you slipped in there hoping people wouldn't notice.

Yes they haven't met the expectations of the multi millionaire Coco Gauff and other multi millionaire sportsmen and women who have chosen hotels - didn't see that coming.

Reading that article seems like they didn't have enough meat/non-vegan options early doors, has been rectified now. Failing!!!1 :tearsofjoy:

Reading 10571z's post you'd think athletes were being held down and force fed soy beans.

No air con and the bed situation does seem pretty rough gotta admit but doesn't seem all that different to reports from previous Olympics.

If it was up to you men's sport would forever remain a safe space for straight dudes, what's the big f***ing deal about drag queens with the flame? I don't remember epic bitching like this when drag queens were all over the Sydney opening ceremony.

Most of the world sleeps on beds much firmer than Aussies and Americans do. Better to go with a hard bed and the wealthy country's Olympic committees can buy mattress toppers. Not much you can do to make a soft bed harder for those athletes from countries that are used to hard beds.

Except they're not doing that.
“Since the start of the project, we have wanted the Paris 2024 Games to be an opportunity to discover and promote a more responsible way of eating from an environmental point of view,” the president of Paris 2024, Tony Estanguet, said in a statement. “… From athletes, volunteers and collaborators to spectators and media, everyone will be able to experiment with a more plant-based diet during the Games.”

Ah yes, this should be the focus for the Olympics.
