Starts building in Sep, surely this is a waste of money? Or this sh*t aint going away for at east another 12 months

I was of this view, but someone pointed out to me that we can use them for things like onshore detention post pandemic

This failed system forced the states to intervene, just like they were forced to intervene and take over vaccine delivery

If you look at where home quarantine has worked, it's been in countries where you had to agree to electronic monitoring
This of course is ignoring the fundamental issue that if you are getting the occasional case of aerosol transmission within hotels, you are certainly going to get cases of aerosol transmission within peoples homes even where people are being 100% compliant.

off mem home detention required everyone else to stay in the house too - just adding to the likelihood people wouldnt comply

Listening to an infectious disease doctor this morning arguing that the pfizer vaccine should be redirected to the over 50’s cohort, given they are the greatest risk of severe complications. Makes a lot sense, this should be prioritised.

Been wondering about this the whole time. Why are we giving AZ to the most vulnerable ?

I think the odd thing is that Thrombosis as a side effect is not typically hitting the older people. Its not hitting people who would normally be at risk of Thrombosis.
Furthermore, those with a history of blood clotting are not an increased risk of Thrombosis as a side effect.

The blood clotting is caused by an immune response.
So here's the thing, if you are prone to having blood clotting when you have the AZ shot, you are probably also prone to having blood clotting if you catch Covid.

The vaccines are not causing the blood clotting, the immune response to Covid has the potential to cause blood clotting. That's the way i read it anyway.

This is a quite brilliant piece of digital journalism:

It's very good, but highlights by omission that there is no roadmap of what happens with international borders etc when x% of the population is vaccinated. That will continue to be a huge handbrake on people taking up the offer of vaccination.

Getting vaccinated today.

Was prepared to travel to the US and spend money on airfares, accommodation just to get vaccinated.

Hopefully more people do the same here and get
vaccinated. People don't really know how lucky we are to be able to get a decent vaccine in a country with virtually no Covid-19 cases.

Are you an Astro or a Pfizer jabbee? Any after-effects?

I'm not sure if I have a choice but if I do ill just get AZ as I don't want to wait to get the second dose as I want to be immunized and be able to travel overseas ASAP.

I'm currently be waiting in line in the cold for almost two hours at a walk in centre. I tried to call for an appointment on the 1800 571 121 but I never get through.

do you have to check in when you start queuing?

Im looking to go first thing tomorrow, but i know my missus and MIL would prefer to come in when the queue has moved somewhat

Honest question here also

Are you willing to no longer attend any funerals for your loved ones going forward to stand in solidarity with the restrictions being handed out? What I mean is if a mum has to suck up and get on with a govt decision to not have a funeral for her 8 year old son, then why not simply create this as a social norm?

Sacrifice only comes out of a inconvenience to yourself so I guess the question to the lockdown lovers is. To what extent are you willing to live with the inconveniences you expect others to live by?

You have to check in on QR.

But every centre might be different. I think the earlier you come the better, in terms of time.

Maybr bring a book or a battery charger.
