Watched and waited for a huge angle or twist, but nothing happened. Not even a run-in.
For all the build-up and promotion, SNME was a let-down to me, but likely a massive win commercially.
Everything is in a holding pattern for the Netflix debut.

Highlights:
- Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Brilliant!
- Chelsea Green. I'm a huge fan of hers!
- SNME presentation (entrances, referees, music, turnbuckles etc.)

Overall it's best summed up with one word. Meh.
Someone born the previous time WWE was on NBC is 1̶6̶-̶y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶-̶o̶l̶d̶ 9-years-old. They wanted a show that wouldn't confuse or overwhelm anybody who's never watched it.

Yet they underwhelmed everyone instead. Glorified house show.

Needs to cater for everyone.

It couldn't have a long runtime with minimal commercials like a PLE and they didn't want new viewers to feel like they've switched on partway into a soap opera which could've happened if they formatted it like a third episode of weekly TV. For what they were doing I thought it was ok.

A lot of mixed boos and jeers for Cody..

Dunno if he can maintain full blown face status into Mania
Feel like they’re playing into it. Keeping Cody face for his fans but giving him heelish traits (eg. dirtyish win tonight). Then you got KO who was a relatable guy turned on by his friends and silenced by WWE. He’s a ruthless heel with comedic tendencies and fairly reasonable motives.

Pretty fun little feud.

this feud MUST continue...

On one hand, I feel like with his current revered status, it's too bad that due to his health, Triple H couldn't do any spots. If you waited and did it at the right moment, then a moment with him taking a move would be a good way to add heat to a feud.

On the other hand, and not to celebrate his ill health at all, knowing Triple H, it's also sort of good that he can't do anything in the ring, because if he could then no doubt the temptation would be too great to interject himself into a whole lot of things. He'd be busting to get himself into the bloodline feud and face Rock at Mania or something.

Jesse showing how missed a true heel commentator is in wwe.
He's just so grumpy and critical of EVERYTHING Cody does.
Haven't had one like this since Heyman.

Absolutely love it!

A few could learn a bit from him. How to be a heel commentator without sounding lame or silly.

they could always do that between the Netflix debut and the Rumble, since it is 1st Feb.

This Netflix show is like a PPV, don't think much is out of the realm of possibility. KO has earned a run that's for sure. If we aren't doing some crazy long Cody run then it's not a big deal if KO gets a sub 1 month rub as a bit of acknowledgement.

I liked SNME. Was nothing extraordinary, but it had some solid moments and progressed some stories well. The old school feel mixed with the perfect amount of modern lighting & effects as to not over do it, certainly made the visual very pleasing.

I think as a whole, they were trying to reintroduce the product to a large portion of the lapsed audience that may have tuned into NBC. Either that or new people who may have tuned in. So it was unlikely they were going to go with any crazy swerves or anything like that. They did put on some decent matches and did a good job of explaining the stores up until that point. Although I do wish the aftermath had of aired on TV, but in the modern world it’s probably not as big of a deal with the access to social media so instant.

The ads didn’t phase me, but I watched on delay so was able to fast forward. What I didn’t mind was the faster pace for a change. A difference from the regular PLE. They did well fitting 5 matches into the 2 hours seamlessly.

As for Cody, I did notice a portion of the audience turn on him. Fortunately he’s probably going to be off of TV for 4-5 weeks Id imagine, to sell the piledriver like Randy has. Will be a good chance for the character to get some breathing space, a little reset, and build the anticipation. Expect KO to walk around with the winged eagle claiming to be champion for the next few weeks.

If we don't get Owens vs Rhodes again at RR, then it would be pretty seamless to have Orton return and face Owens. Cody can't be off for too long unless they don't have him defend at the Rumble as they will need to build to something. The roster is so stacked right now. We are about to come into the best few months as they build to WrestleMania.

We’re definitely getting another go around. Rumble is early February, so plenty of time for Cody to sit out of TV for a few weeks. Especially during these holiday/taped/slightly meaningless shows. Then build back up for a return bout.

Cena vs Gunther at Mania looks to be the path forward.

Gunther running out of opponents, although probably shifts to Smackdown with netflix wanting the WWE title on Raw.
Clever way to do a "Will John Cena achieve a 17th title reign??" story without using the WWE Championship.

Wikipedia says he held the old World Heavyweight Championship 3 times but I only remember the one where he beat Damien Sandow.

I'd love to know what preparation goes into hitting a package piledriver for the first time in a decade? Especially when the piledriver has been a move that WWE has been scared of for 20 years.

I think the package variation is probably safer than the normal version, but there's still a decent margin for error.

Do you go in cold? Are you risking the necks of trainees in training? It'd be fascinating to ask him.

Rollins vs Punk confirmed for Raw on Netflix. Massive card it's shaping up to be.

Has to be early shenanigans, otherwise seems silly not saving it for Mania.

At least they got rid of the BAW.

Bit meh. Just blends in with all the other designs they have had. Since the early 00's.

Timing was right for Mania last year but the injury stopped that, timing is right now and its the perfect way to start Netlfix like a huge deal.

Have a feeling if Rock isn't going to wrestle at Mania I tend to think we will get the Punk/Roman match up instead.

Punk vs Rollins better not be wasted on the first Raw for Netflix.

Needs a Mania build hopefully with the title attached.

I'm fine with the match taking place on Raw, especially the first Raw of the year/on Netflix which is a PLE calibur stage. Otherwise you would need to drag it out almost 4 months to get to Mania, this way they can have their match on Netflix. have an interaction during the Rumble match, have interaction at the Chamber if need be etc...
