Surely Simpson would have as much knowledge of Ellis' physical condition as anyone. Worth the punt I reckon.

There are a lot of "ifs" involved with Ellis. On the Hawk board for the last 2-3 years, it's always been "if he can stay fit", "if he can get a full preseason under his belt", "if he can stay on the park". Hopefully he does come good though. Even then, I find he's a bit overrated. Either kicks a dinky little pass or a hospital kick and often handballs to blokes under pressure.

Best of luck to him though. Hope he works out for you guys.

Read in todays West Australian that Ellis will only get a one year deal and Adam Simpson is the one pushing the deal . One year deal is very sensible indead !

Am very happy with this. Worst case is injured and gets delisted after his contract. Best case is he becomes a champion like he has potential to be. Where does everyone think he will play? Middle or forward?

My take on it is that Simpson wants to bring a player from the Hawthorn system to show how hard they train etc.
