to all those who are bagging Silvan - seriously get a grip. almost every club is paying someone, whilst the pay scales may be slightly different it does not matter. having been in this league for the past 10 years i can 100% guarantee that the success and personnel playing for Silvan have lifted the profile of the league in leaps and bounds. I was previously involved in the EFL and the buzz was the same when an ex VFL/AFL player arrived. It is HEALTHY for the league and should be encouraged no matter which club it is.
I support Healesville and have previously played for Healesville, however watching the skills of the Silvan boys over the past 2-3 years has been a massive highlight. Each and every club reaps the benefits from having these ex AFL players playing and i for one applaud Silvan and their committee.

Lets just see will we Catpower? XXXXXXXXXXXXX . The REASON get it The REASON that people have a problem with Silvan is the club ( THE WORD CLUB USED LOOSELY) has been nothing but arrogent and ignorent in there approach. Silvan has shown no respect to any other club over the last 4-5 years to both players and supporters. Making such comments as " If your club was more professional you could get better players" and " Why would player such and such stay at his club when he can play for Silvan that has great culture". We all know it was money nothing more nothing less. Its very easy to say a club has a good culture but to demonstrae it is another thing.

Silvan dont even have the decency to have a drink after the game with the oppisition at home games let alone step foot into away teams rooms. The few old time supporters that do hang around tell us all what great blokes all these blow ins are and how much they love the club. Well heres a question for you were are they? Its half an hour after the game and already there cars are flying towards Lilydale. How would anyone know if there good blokes or not?
If you think its sour grapes its not Ive played in more hidings from Upwey and Monbulk than I can remember and dont begrudge either as Ive seen the work theyve done over a period of time and the respect given back in return when we have won. Always the rooms have been full after the game home and away.

So Catpower have a real look at your so called club and let us know how there going.

not sure about watson but overall ok ........just thought the way ponting was going on about simmo he was going to be picked i just prefer the old 6 bats 1 keeper and 4 bowlers but times have changed....spin still a worry

I think most clubs and supporters would love to have a guy that is committing to the club in the manner that Alan Webb has.

Silvan have had a massive impact on the competition in recent years and certainly created a lot of interest in setting the standard for others to follow.

Like any club, success will be cyclical and maybe Silvan are on the slide - remember they have only lost a couple of games and with their calibre of players I think it is too early to write them off.

Silvan like other clubs such as Wandin are having difficulty with juniors but remember Monbulk did not have an unders team in 2008.

Will be interesting to see how the next few weeks progress for the Cats and by the way, as per Rusty's comments - keep them constructive and not personal or you will be removed from the forum.

Please, let's not get carried away with the thought police. The banter that has been going on lately is what the forum (and a bit of fun) are all about. I've hardly read anything that constitutes a personal attack or defamatory remark.

I threw a bit of a line the other week at Olinda's website and copped it straight back from Sid Snot and Tees. No harm caused either way. Now we have a few people posting with a bit of passion about Silvan; brilliant stuff.

But the spelling mistakes-now that's something to get upset about!

Your right Totallytrue, the censoring of my posts is a bit disapointing, i thought phrase's like Dimwit,Brainiac,Rocket Scientist,Geek and the most amusing one, Issac Newton are A grade gold!!!!But i can see that they might be taken personaly by some, The fact is Nochance and i are best buddies & i love him dearly, but sometimes he needs the back smacked out of him! And the spelling could be a bit better but when your producing comic genius, like i do! maybe the spelling takes a back seat!

Hard to blame Gary on his decision to leave Silvan, wasnt enjoying it much and got a job that pays him more than his current job and football combination. So looking at it from the outside, probibly a smart move knowing he cant keep playing, traveling for to much longer and with work getting tighter cant knock him to much. As we know he was there to preform, he did that, he wasnt there because he loved the club or had family ties at the club.

Lancefield defeated Sunbury by 43 pts, the tiges also won the 18's while the roos won the 2's easily.

Also, Romsey beat Woodend by 5 goals, Moorcroft kicked 8 and Green was best on, Riddell beat Wallan by 6 pts, Diggers beat Centrals by 8 goals or so, Macedon beat Kilmore easy (the Big Rig kicked 8 I believe), and Broadford had the better of Rockbank by 5 goals.
