Keep drafting while we remain in the bottom half for next 2 drafts, need a KDEF or 2 and 2 elite mids in those drafts.
Bring in elite talent thru trade/FA in 25-26 to build out our list.
We have a stack of talent on the list but its all young so 2028 is the time we will be playing finals, look out then!
Sell some fringe players to Tassie in 27/28 and re-invest in high quality kids to replace them, building out the list for 5+ years at winning another GF.
Never have to play Tassie in Tassie for 5 years until Melbourne based AFL clubs catch up on some travel deficits they have.

Sign Mckercher long term
Even that may not be as important as some might think. He's from Launceston, a Hobart based team might not have the same "go home" appeal to northerners. Either way the time difference isn't a lot, flying takes a little longer due to getting to/from airports, and the cost of flights for an AFL footballer is barely a factor.

Freo have timed their list perfect don’t need to hit the draft at minimum until 2030
****ing hell we are one silly fanbase. the list hasn't achieved a premiership. when they inevitably don't, then we'll look back and make excuses as to why it didn't happen and have a warm little feeling of 'but jeez remember when...'

You can always improve and change your list, slow adaption is why Hawthorn went from one flag in 2008 to one in 2013 and continued development and trades got them two more; Geelong weren't just happy with Selwood and Hawkins, they made smart trades like Touhy and Isaac Smith as well as marquee ones like Dangerfield and Jeremy Cameron.

Freo always think it has its best ever list and the missing ingredient is always a high profile, high cost trade.

Everything you just said has nothing to do with a compromised draft the topic at hand but Thankyou

Make sure we’ve planned appropriately for the compromised drafts

Don’t envisage us losing any senior players to them, they will find it very difficult to recruit any decent established senior players

You said 'Freo don't need to worry about the draft' meaning you think we're so amazing we don't need to bring in promising juniors for two or three seasons. that's ****in nonsense, every club wants and should try and get good young guys into their clubs.

Like if we were off the back of a threepeat yeah maybe you could try something arrogant and sit back, but Freo haven't.

This is just more classic Freo over-excitement and the constant cycle of overrating the board, the coach, the players. there's no other fanbase who care less about losing and are so blindly positive. and when it doesn't pan out, hey it was all a fun adventure anyway.

With a near full salary cap to play with? And very liekly less draft assistance than GC or GWS got, as there is no need for the AFL to try and make Tassie competitive. Especially not in the first two years when it will sell out, before the novelty wears off.

I didnt say we won’t look to do this:

The WA talent tip to go top 5 in the 2025 draft I will be all for bringing them home in 2027.
The WA talent Tasmania Aquire I’m sure the anchors will pursue if they don’t like it down there.
All this can be achieved with a compromised draft so I’m not worried about the 2-3 years of compromised drafts

WA have about 20 draftees per year, why do you think that the best ones will want to come back to Perth?

I think the covid years massively influenced guys like Jackson, Clarke likes being a big fish in a small pond and was always going to come back to WA (and I really love Clarkey; he's an angry ****er) but we're not just going to continually get players to return.

You're also just speaking in total riddles, which is what Freo supporters on the internet are really good at.

I also doubt this team gets off the ground, Tasmanians still have this weird idea that if a stadium isn't built then a billion dollars will suddenly appear in the coffers for some hospitals and whatever else. young people are increasingly gutless and would see living in a cold town of 300,000 people as like, not what they're entitled to.

No progression on the Launceston ground's redevelopment and no subsequent news from the AFL who absolutely love staying in the news cycle.

It's a shame but I just think it fizzles out.
