any folks not heading to round 1 and comfortable donating a member barcode?

7 of us are coming over from Melbourne - I got 4 tickets with my barcode, just wanted to secure the other three without risking the game selling out when general public release happens

Or would you guys think I'd be safe waiting til then for the other three?

Just went on the form in the practice game. They kicked 7 between them and Gooch barley touched it. If he out plays them the next two weeks then he replaces one.
Eddie comes back in so he already replaces one of them and depending on structures I would still expect Gallucci to slot in for the other one given what we hear of Stengle and McAdam's fitness levels. McHenry or Jones given their fitness levels are fine will also be in contention I feel.

I don’t think both of Stengle and McAdam will play ahead of Gallucci.
Gallucci’s last AFL game he had 17 disposals, 7 inside 50s and 4 goals. I know it was similar to a JLT but I am happy to have a bottle of quality red on Jordan lining out against the Hawks (providing he is not injured).

Agreed, the Gooch should get the first crack it at ahead of the newer guys based on his season last year. If his form drops through the season then wouldn't be surprised to see one of the younger guys come in to take his spot if they are performing.

I had Eddie in already. I prefer Gooch up the field more. Could play a Douglas type role.

It gets worse, he used to be a Crows supporter and switched in 2014.

What I’ve posted here I’ve said 100 times worse and on a regular basis, we give each other shit all the time.

Classic was one night we were at the bingo at the Alma. I told Tex my mate switched and Tex couldn’t believe it. Anyway my mate wins the raffle and Tex says on the mic to Sloaney that he switched to Port, what were the chances.

It also gets worse, he lives in Norwood, used to be a Norwood supporter and now supports the Magpies.

So when Marty suggests I would place a bet based on his opinion, it’s madness.

Excuse me for coming in late but was he the guy that used to post on here {when he followed AFC} and changed to please his girlfriend?

So far

B Brown - Talia - Doedee
HB Smith - Keath - Laird
C Gibbs - Sloane - Milera
HF Lynch - Walker - Atkins
F Murphy - Jenkins - Betts
R O'Brien - M. Crouch - B. Crouch

I Seedsman - Knight - Ellis-Yolmen* - TBD

*CEY until Greenwood returns

Haven't decided on the 22nd spot. At this stage it's between Fogarty, Jones, McHenry, McAdam, Gallucci and Stengle

Douglas, Jacobs and Mackay shouldn't be in contention. Hartigan needs to find form

I know he isn't in serious first 22 contention, but structurally, how do you think Jake Kelly go in the forward line as a McGovern replacement or as substitute for Lynch if he misses a game.

One of the fittest at the Crows, 190cm and 89ish kgs. Can take defensive marks, can that be converted to contested marks in attack? In the AFLX in 2018 kicked about 3 goals from outside 40 in pretty quick time, and kicked his first AFL goal in 2018.

24 years of age now, has played 53 AFL games, and in 2018 played:
Games: 19
Goals: 1
Disposals per game: 16.6
Disposal efficiency: 85.1
Rebound 50s per game: 2.4
Tackles: 38 (McGov had 22 in 12 games/Lynch had 28 in 17)
Marks: 96 (McGov had 78 in 12 games/Lynch had 97 in 17)

Pretty high disposal efficiency.
Would seem like a harder worker in a McGovern position, and the ability to provide defensive pressure and chase. Should be able to break defenders/get separation with repeat efforts and gut runs to get space for a lead and mark.
Not sure how the offensive marking and goal sense is. Coaching staff had considered pushing him forward all year, maybe if all the other injuries hadn't occurred.

In his fourth season at the Club, defender Jake Kelly diversified his game and spent time in a new role further up the ground.
Known for his bullish tackling nature and speedy gut-running, the young Crow spent some time on the wing in 2018, determined to add an attacking element to his game.
He almost doubled his rebound 50 from 2017 to average 2.4 per game, as well as averaging 16.6 disposals at an impressive 85.1 efficiency.
The 23-year-old had Don Pyke up and about in Round 23 when he kicked his first AFL goal in Adelaide’s 104-point win over Carlton.
Post-match, Pyke said Adelaide’s coaching staff had been talking about playing the tackling machine up forward all year.
“We’ve got a guy who’s got running, is a competitive guy who tackles and puts really good pressure on so we saw an opportunity to push him forward in the last quarter,” he said.
“I was aware he hadn’t kicked a goal so it was kind of like here’s your chance to get down there and see what you can do.

“It’s always an exciting moment when a guy kicks his first goal.”

I wouldn't mind seeing him up there at some stage to see if it works or not, rather than on a wing/def. Seems like a difficult match up for a 3rd or 4th best "tall" opposition defender?

No.
The end, forever, and even after that.

R1 team looking like this to me...

B: Brown Talia Doedee
HB: Laird Keath Smith
C: Milera B Crouch Seedsman
HF: Atkins Walker Lynch
F: Betts Jenkins Gallucci
R: Jacobs M Crouch Sloane
Int: Greenwood, Douglas, Gibbs, Murphy

Emg (from): O’Brien, McHenry, Knight, Hartigan, CEY, Kelly, Jones

Notes:
*I wouldn’t pick Kelly, I just think the selectors will go this way as it’s the “safe” option. EDIT: I completely forgot about Murphy, so Jake gets the chop for him as the 22nd player selected.

*Knight’s ankle / foot problem from yesterday is surely likely to cost him his spot against GWS, which in turn likely pushes him out of the Rd 1 side.

*McAdam will not be considered until around Rd 5 due to fitness issues IMO.

*McHenry is very close and could easily break in ahead of Kelly or even Gallucci if the selectors are swayed by his tackling prowess in JLT2.

*Jones also isn’t far off.

*Can’t see Stengle getting a gig any time soon.

*I’m assuming Greenwood proves his fitness. If not, McHenry, Knight or Ellis-Yolmen are his most likely replacements.

*Poholke is a long way down the pecking order and we may have even seen the last of him at AFL level tbh.

*Keath absolutely gets first crack at the 2nd KPD spot. Hartigan is waiting in the wings, which is very healthy competition. I’m assuming Talia will be right to go.

*Douglas absolutely plays. High B&F finish, enters leadership group = not done with yet.

*Jacobs is under intense pressure from ROB and probably only gets 3 games to nail down his spot. If Sauce is still struggling by then, ROB can and should step in. Has a lot more pace and intensity and brings something different.

*Fogarty is stuck in no-man’s land. Sadly he needs an injury to take place to even be in the frame.

Will hawks run 2 ruckmen and if they do, will we?
dont know about hawks but we won't regardless
especially since neither of our ruckmen is a genuine around the ground positional option (JJ will be 2nd ruck for as always)

add to that rd 1 is always high intensity and players always cramp up etc and struggle to run out the game at that intensity and threres no way it works for us.

If we play arguably too tall it will be because we have Fog as 4th tall fwd, not because we have Sauce + ROb

hard to argue with most of that team and your extended comments

Most contentious in there are Gooch, Dougie, Greenwood/Brown/Talia, Murphy

Talia: fitness the only ? but my feel is he is 80/20 or better to be right to play. Harto/Otten in if not
Brown: as above and if he isn't right id say Kelly is the obvious replacement

Greenwood: fitness the only query and my gut feel is that he may not get there Rd1 (will play SANFL). I dont think it is CEY in as we have Crouch in from last year so that opens up more flexibility for who comes in and I think its more of a runner

Gooch: really only based on him not playing yesterday. I do think thats management with him having played 1 already so will play next week and stay

Murphy: I agree that he will likely get 1st shot. no Knight in above team makes him a candidate there though with Jones, Stengle, McHenry, McAdam, Stengle the challengers. Will be interesting to see if any of these get their shot next week as with Murph now playing 2, I could see 1 of those others audition in that role given t isn't a role that changes structure so can still experiment there while having a rd 1 dress rehearsal overall

Dougie: he is no certainty but you feel that he will get 1st shot. The players listed above the same challengers

Overall id say from above for rd1: Out Greenwood In: Knight (if knight u/a also then Jones may get a start or 1 of the others I listed if not playing yesterday was management and they get a shot next week)
If Greenwood available: Out Dougie In:Knight (in knight u/a same as your team)
