I can only assume the AFL has communicated what the plans are to the clubs by now, if not we wouldn't be seeing 900k offers being thrown about willy nilly
I don't think we actually are. Notice how every journo has a different figure? It's because they have no idea.

Overall I doubt it's 900k across the contract, not out of the realms of possibility that it's heavily front ended though

How’s his soft tissue history. Hopefully he gets his body right.

A worry for me too.

But a great sign for us to have him nominate and so early too...clearly not a hard decision for him.

Nominations from Jack Martin, Tom Papley and Zac Williams in consecutive years is pretty huge.

Missed out on Papley thanks to Essendon but looks like we will get Martin and Williams for no trade cost!

Good on him for picking a team that’s looking to improve rather than going to a power club to chase a cheap flag , no reason the Blues can’t be right in it next year aka the Saints this year

Freo looking very good as well. Brayshaw, Cerra and Serong is a great mid partnership for the next 8-10 years

Closer to $750-800k a year over 5 years with large part up front. Great deal for Blues IMO
Dont want to be arguing about a silly issue but lets just think about this if it was ourself's

If my club (GWS) Is offering me $750k x 5 years , I will most certainly be wanting alot more to move clubs specially as a free agent where the new club gets me without giving up a draft pick. I wont change jobs for the same money and will make sure i get the extra specially with other clubs having bigger cash on the table Williams will take the money from Carlton and my opinion would be atleast $850k but wouldnt surprise me if it is actually $900k if the North offer is the $1mil.

But who really cares what they pay as he is coming as a free agent and the cap gets sorted 1 way or another , Something small like Casboult leaving 1 year earlier or Murphy getting 1 year extension rather than 2.

If i was a Carlton supporter i would be happy to get him for $900k x5 if he is a free agent but would be upset to pay $750k x 5 if i had to give up a 1st rounder
Blues did well

What's your point?

Martin for PSD.
Williams for free agency.

Yes probably both overpaid, but how much would we have saved in draft picks?
All I basically said is that in my opinion the reported figure of $900k is a bit much for Williams. That is basically all I said. Others got a little upset at that number.

I didn’t make that number up, I also never said that number was even true although it could be.

It’s great for Carlton that they are attracting players to their club whether it’s through Free agency or trade.

Anyone with a brain would have taken that deal offered by Sydney and ran. Dodoro has no brain sadly. The supporters are pissed.

Pick 9 & Sydney's 2020 1st rounder which always projected to be a top pick...and is now confirmed pick 3.

That's a bloody good deal for a guy with Joey's injuries, head space wanting out and the fact he was about to become a FA.

Except GWS was only offering 4*600k, you don't. Think you would move for 5*750k? Only an extra 1.35mil

In hindsight, maybe missing out of Cogs was a gift in disguise. Much happier with Williams on that $ from 2021 than current Cogs on mega bucks.
I think either would have been a win for Carlton. But Williams is a great get. He's a fantastic person and internal leader as well.
