Of course they did, likely gets 900k next year and they run with that but no way the average across the contract is that high its been stated by more reputable sources on our board then journos looking for a headline.

Giants offered around 700k a year. Supposedly the Carlton amount adds up to a million more over the period of the contract so that would make the 900k figure per year very likely.

He has stated numerous times he didn’t want to go but couldn’t turn down the coin.

Well done he is at Carlton but you have paid to get him there.

Yep. He was so, so keen to stay with you guys that he dodged the post season party with your players and staff and hung out with our staff on his birthday.

anything over 650k is overs. Paying A grade wages for B grade talent - good to get it off the books for GWS TBH.

it’s not like the Blues are challenging any time soon

Blues are in a similar spot to the Lions of 2018, good youth and recruitment in the previous couple of seasons means they're only 1 or 2 really good recruits from rocketing up, I think quite a few players can see that as well, will be interesting how the rest of their off season goes

Zac Williams isn’t that guy. Not on those reported wages

They've got the cash to spare, if they front end in a year where they have no OOC players there's no reason not to

so who are the 2-3 others that are A graders that they need that will command greater wages given Williams is now the benchmark?

Of course they can fit him in the cap. Another 2-3 at that level?

This is why list managers are paid so much and work full time, they have the fun of organising it all

looking forward to a blockbusting trade period then. Must be a couple Fyfes or Martins available

1 mil more so 760k * 5 vs 700k *4

That wasn't so hard to work out after all

So we should try use the rest of the cap instead to pay/retain battlers like Darcy Lang instead?

And he is a free hit from a draft/trade capital asset POV for us, and the Giants get a top ten pick and much needed Cap space relief.

This is a rare occurance of a free agent transaction that is both/mutually beneficial to both clubs and where they are at as a club..

It is funny what a few years of success does to your big footy posting. Mate settle down and enjoy the success. Took a while but kudos to your club they got there and at the verge of a dynasty bit of humility won’t hurt ya.

You said 1mil extra over the length champ don't come crying to me now you realised you f’ed up.

Lol are you drugged?

200k difference per year. Giants had put up a 700k offer over 5 years.

Why are you so delicate about it.

Should be over the moon you got a talent and a good bloke like him.

I’ve said it was a good move for GWS. You need a willing buyer fair play to the giants they’ve done well out of it.

richmond wins a flag = ban on Richmond supporters talking footy on a footy forum? Ease up Kouta enough souvas for everyone

It's pretty hilarious how concerned Richmond supporters are about our salary cap.

We've started afresh and built a list. Not lost a single kid we didn't wish to lose. Got our high potential kids locked in.

We're just fine. Thanks for asking.

Again, welcome to Carlton Zac.

it’s not a concern. Far from it. Just an observation. About Zac Williams on the Zac Williams RFA thread. Where’s the sensitivity coming from?

I think you have concerns in your midfield. Dow, O’Brien and Stocker were high picks but haven’t shown much. I’d have thought a bona fide mid to help Cripps out is where you’d spend your cash.

I like Williams. He’s pretty handy off HB. Wouldn’t have thought that’s where you’d want to be targeting TBH. Who is coming in at 800-900k to be that B+ to A on baller that can give Cripps a chop out? Pretty strong list apart from the midfield. Is that really a surprise?
