Most do, but not me. I rate him highly. He's had a horrid run with injury and been played out of position when given an opportunity.

I'd be loathe to lose him.
I will be pissed if we lose Smedts, GHS or Vardy.

Take Murdoch instead.

No to Smedts. We're losing 2 of our most durable players in Gibbs and Tuohy and evidently getting 2 injury prone players from GWS in Marchbank and Pickett. We don't need anyone else clogging up our rehab room.

Need to get the pick Geelong gets for Kersten, the value should be on par.

Tuohy is a much better footballer than kersten

I dont think you understand what pick we will actually be getting for Kersten. At best it will be Freo's pick 40.

But Kersten is a key forward, putting a higher price on his head. Freo are desperate to get in some KPF's so they'll pay a little more than some other clubs would. Should be a pick in the 20's for their Mayne compo.

Kersten has just had his best and most consistent season. Carlton got a pick in the early 20's for Tom Bell after a similar output, albeit in a different position. I think Kersten is worth about pick 30, which Freo won't have, so I think that mid 20's pick will be it.

I wish you were on Freo's list management staff. Kersten is uncontracted and has requested Freo. Our hands are tied. I would be absolutely stoked with a pick in the 20's, but as I said we will be getting their pick 40 and we will like it.

Kersten is a third tall. We overpaid for Bell because he was contracted and we would have had to use the pick on an academy selection anyway so it wasn't worth as much to us as it was to Carlton.

It's all about supply and demand though. Kersten won't be a 3rd tall at Freo as they don't have a 1st and 2nd tall yet. McCarthy will be one, and maybe Apeness takes some steps, but without Kersten, the next best option is Aaron Black...which would be like them getting Jack Anthony back.

You're completely ignoring Hill, McCarthy and Hamling as well. Just saying.

Plus supply and demand isn't so black and white. If you're going to throw around Econs terms, there's substitutes at play here and demand and supply curves could shift as a result.

Carlton will go no where if they accept Smedts as part of the Touhy trade. Guy is the ultimate list clogger. If this is the best Geelong can offer, I'd let Touhy go in the draft and if he gets to Geelong, good on him, at least they don't have Smedts on their list.

McCarthy will be brought in pick 3, with 7 going back to Dockers. There's also the potential to use a future 2nd for either Kersten or Hill. Hamling won't be going anywhere.

Chris scott has a very good record as coach of geelong winning a flag in season 2011 also two preliminary finals and one elimination final and 2015 and once missing the 8 in 5 seasons.

But he should be under pressure seems to be tactically behind when it comes to strategy defence and ball movement. Especially in our front half of the ground.

We have moved away from our traditional draft methods letting stephen wells work magic.

In the hopes of winning another flag for selwood and co through free agency Dangerfield enormous pickup S.selwood zach smith henderson tightening our salary cap to explosion and we have a side now loaded with scott brand B level players and 0 draft picks to work with our future has been completely leveraged for the now he has 1 season left in my estimation to win another flag or geelong should part ways rather than risk this man rebuilding through the draft.

As good management as the bulldogs have shown keeping quality veterans and mixing them with youth draft picks can turn a club around quickly and build towards the future
We can't kick a score and we are delisting johnson to accomodate zach smiths salary ????
I do not want our great club to fall away in 3 years time

Cats fans who would you rather have (not trade but actually play) out of Smedts and Horlin-Smith?
Smedts is not AFL quality and will never be a decent league player. That is a fact. Bad disposal, no footy brain and lacks any top end skill e.g. pace, hands etc.
Horlin Smith is a better chance of a mid range career, 80-100 games.

If Geelong cant offer anything decent - Blues will add another year on his contract and that will be that.

Got to be honest. I don't see how Smedts or GHS are equivalent to Touhy.

I would expect Carlton get pick 26 if they simply didn't match the contract offered. They'll expect pick 17-20 at least I would have thought. Hard for Geelong to do, maybe if Motlop or Caddy are traded but we're not getting that through deals offloading Murdoch, Smedts, GHS, Kersten or Vardy.

Realistic post is realistic.

You cant force him to sign you know, every chance he ends up in the draft under that scenario.

It wont come to that its just waiting on third party trades for geelong to get a pick in the late 20s which we will then offer to carlton and they will accept.

What do Carlton actually need? Are they looking just to rebuild through the draft or would good u24 y.o players be preferred. What positions?
Oh we need everything, save maybe key defenders.

What we don't have in our rebuild is the luxury of risk, so hoping for the likes of Smedts or GHS to come good is out.

Caddy is solid if unspectacular and fits our age and position needs...would partner well with Cripps.

Guthrie works, though maybe we are tipping in a little on that one.

I like Thurlow...hard to value post ACL. Would replace much of what we lose in Tuohy.

So in summary probably assets you don't want to give.
