So looks like passing on Nick Martin being another toal clusterf*#*## from our esteemed recruiting team.

Ive defended a lot of decisions but geez we seem to be passing on far too much talent sitting under our noses.

Id really like to see what resources have changed since Rawlings left. If we need to spend more $ and get taxed do it. And seriously some new senior recruitment manager is needed. Vosso has been on personal leave and thats fine but another senior recruiter needs to be brought in. And the committee involved in rankings etc, that needs something to change too.

For one of the big powerful, richest clubs our recruiting department looks like its under financed and under resourced.

Or not up to it.

Add it to up another abysmal decision. It’s just incredible. Even with Jack Hayes last night. It just shows up AFL clubs have lost themselves in metrics, athleticism and other wank apart from blokes being able to play a game of footy.

Lets strap in and watch Angus Sheldrick on debut make 4 centre clearance kicks to Buddy get him to 1,000 goals. In the openning quarter. Lol.

Wonder if Dark Sharks has sedatives ready. :straining::straining:

We picked Chesser ahead of Sheldrick and that’s wasn’t an unreasonable decision.

He was widely considered a surprise pick when Sydney took him at 18

Don’t think that our recruiters deserve a clip for that one

Nick Martin, however ….

Old Googley eyes O’Brien just has to get the arse, along with anyone else who supports him. Clearly muppets that would seem low IQ in the COVID bigfooty threads. Time and time again they completely miss. But watch the excuses role: this year injuries, last year COVID, year before hubs, year before motivation. Could be 5 years of excuses and googley eyes and Simpson just keep getting the benefit of the doubt. Club has been rotting for a while. Not being able to sell out round 1 at half capacity is just the tip of the iceburg. No point bringing good new people in unless you sweep the old clowns out

Both Martin and Hayes benefited from being unknown.

If however, Martin keeps this up, I'm grabbing my pitchfork and storming WC headquarters.

Its the Brander preseason game all over again. Maybe see how he goes after a few games before folding the club.

Martin Mcgrath kicked 5 goals on debut and was delisted the same year. Sometimes mediocre players play a blinder.

What type of muppet would sign Will Collins ahead of Martin though?

A muppet that is well-paid by our football club (and likely also had a hand in signing Burrows...)

Couple of things.

Apparently he got injured prior to the mid season draft which may (or may not) have been a factor in overlooking him then. I’m sure us selecting an injured player back then would have been warmly received here

Every club, including Essendon, decided not to draft him in either the main draft and rookie draft for whatever reason

That said, I’d really like to know whether or not we asked him to train with us this preseason. Would be disappointed if we didn’t see if he was interested in having another crack

I would really love to know what our reasoning behind picking Collins was. I reckon there's at least 100 better players just from the WAFL we could have taken in his spot.

I followed Nic Martin mainly because WCE were targeting him and trained pre -season 2021 with WCE for quite a while .

Eagles midseason 2021 drafted Connor West and Will Collins I think from then Martin was curtains going to West Coast .

Good luck to him now !!

The question has to be asked why sheldrik a first year player is playing ahead of warner ?

Can't seem to find anything on warner being injured. They have such a glut of young mids at the moment it would be nice to chase warner
