A visual representation of Hawthorn’s repudiation of Kane Cornes’ constant negativity about our list.

I enjoyed that game soo much!

So much fun watching the kids just take the game on and the older guys just adding class.

And I am back to having to apologise to neighbours for me carrying on like a clown at the tv

Same here, and also my dogs clearly forgot what an enjoyable Hawks game was like in our lounge room. Especially the couple of times we delivered a pass to Mitch Lewis that was out in space that allowed him to run onto it and gave the defenders no chance at all. One was from Nash, can't remember who delivered the other one. Dogs were looking at me like I was crazy, lol.

The most pleasing thing for mine (I was at the game with my Power supporting wife after travelling fro east Gippsland specifically for the game) was the seedlings of the unsociable hawks returning.

Nuke, DGB, Worps, Cmac and Moorey all have a little campaigner in them…

It’s beautiful to watch!!

Quite a weird grouping. Means coaches had VERY different views of who played well. Mitch Lewis takes one of fives. Another must be 3 and 2 because both the 1's are used. One coach had either sic or more as best on and the other didn't rate them.

We dominated them without having a dominant mid.

Yep. The coaches suffered from the same issues I spoke about at the beginning of this thread, about the difficulty of choosing a best five for the yabby.

Agree. And whilst Ward doesn't seem like a bad mofo he does go hard at the ball.

Without having checked I would expect more often than not any team starting 2-0 goes on to play finals. Typically (looking at past 5 years or so) you need about 12 wins to make the 8. So you've then got 20 more games to win 10 times. Only needing to go at 50% win rate from that point. If you're good enough to win your first two then you're probably good enough to win at least every second game from there and make finals.

But of course there would be exceptions. Does the fact that one of our wins came against last years spooners and was pretty close discount anything? Does a huge win on the road against one of last years preliminary finalists counter act that?

We'll see, I guess.

I did look up and find that the last team to be on top of the ladder after round 2 and not make finals was West Coast in 2014 (came 9th and every other team who was 2-0 made finals). But they then made the GF the following year after a dominant H&A season. Only faltered because they came up against some kind of generational juggernaut team.
Since 2000, around 75% of teams to record two wins in the first two rounds go on to play finals. But it should be noted, this has happened every year since 2012 and sometimes more than one team - likely something to do with the expansion to an 18 team competition. Of all the teams that record those two wins, 28% go on to play in the grand final and 14% win the flag.

If we look at teams to record 3 wins straight up, 83% play finals with 37% playing off in the grand final. Get 4 straight wins to start the year and the chances of making finals increase to 89% with 49% playing off in the grand final.

So two straight wins is great but four straight wins would catapult us into flag contention. If we knock off Carlton, we meet St Kilda in round 4...

Lotta yoof there.

There are some ratings in there that are quite baffling, Ryan Burton being rated higher than most of our defenders despite his absolute butchery of the ball being a main one.
It's crazy baffling sometimes. He may have made a few extra spoils. 1%ers make a difference in champion data's ratings.

Most of his shit miss kicks were still retained hence they would be effective under cd categorisation.
Still I'm glad now he's playing for him them.
