He was right about Liam Duggan’s goal being entirely umpire-assisted.

Wait, I don’t remember Liam Duggan kicking a goal.

Always enjoy seeing the club get some good press, especially in Melbourne.
From The Tackle.

5. West Coast

Stories galore at the Eagles, not least being the coaching performance of Adam Simpson. There’s tactics in footy and there’s attitude, and Simpson was able to bring the collective together, and individuals were able to influence.

Willie Rioli is a better player than I thought and his recent story would be unmissable if he ever spoke.

Another is Patrick Naish.

He was initially drafted to Richmond under the father-son rule, was delisted, trained with St Kilda over the summer and then West Coast jagged him for their final list spot.

He’s played all four games for the under-siege Eagles and on Saturday had 23 disposals on a wing and 458m gained.

Simpson was right, this Covid nightmare could prove to the making for some players.

After NN's news, a little something to bring a smile by Titus.

Collingwood (74) v West Coast (87)

A few weeks ago, I equated seeing Collingwood high up on the ladder, as akin to seeing a cow on the roof.

You could see it was there, you weren’t sure how it got up there, but you knew it didn’t belong there.

Well, I can happily report that the cow is well and truly off the roof.

Losing to a West Coast side that is more understaffed than the hospitality industry, is a sure-fire way to bring you back down to earth.

And while it’s been fun watching West Coast not winning, this was funnier.

West Coast fans will be thrilled with their effort, given all the constant changes, and maybe, just maybe, this whole nightmare might unearth some very handy players.

The Eagles were certainly helped by an issue that’s affected the Pies for about a decade, a lack of key forwards.

You’d think that’s something they’d fix.

Adding to all that, Jamie Elliott looks set for a length stint on the sideline.

The people may change but Collingwood keeps playing their greatest hits year after year.

It’s not all bad news, in Jack Ginnivan Collingwood have found a player that opposition fans can hate for at least a decade.

Always a good read. he did miss their pathetic kicking for goals.

With all that capital, Lyon believes broadcasters are being ripped off by the AFL “not trying hard enough” with its fixturing.

lol, the AFL bends over backwards to accommodate the broadcasters with its fixturing.

I'm not one to just look at raw free kick counts to see if there was umpiring bias* but if you win the count 28-21 then you came out no worse than 50/50.

If I was being honest I didn't think the Rioli free should have been one but the Pies got plenty their way as well, not the least being that 65 metre penalty. I was watching wondering when the bloody hell the umpire was going to stop running.

* I'm not really one to look at the umpires anyway. I reckon the average season has maybe half a dozen games where umpiring bias reverses the result and maybe another dozen or so games with genuinely one sided umpiring but the better team won anyway. And if you do believe your team has been robbed? You know the only thing that makes the win sweeter for the opposition... Your salty tears. You're better just to button up and cop it on the chin.

Watched some of 'On the Couch', and was very impressed with Darcy Moore. He spoke very well, was thoughtful and considered.
