I’m stunned that we haven’t appealed. Yes there was some slinging involved but it’s very hard to stop that rotational force and from what I saw Dangerfield’s shoulder primarily impacted the ground, not his head. Clearly Danger was not injured and I reckon would have testified to that effect if we had taken it to an appeal hearing.

It all seems very strange to me.

Not sure of the rules, not sure of the consensus around here, but the action did seem dangerous enough to be looked at.

Take the week, hopefully take the win against West Coast, see you at the Gabba week after.

Oh well, I guess the club has made an assessment, taking into account the relevant AFL Rules and how JDG's actions aligned with them, and formed the view that they wouldn't succeed at appeal. So they decided not to tip $10K down the toilet. We have no option but to move on.

I totally agree. I am somewhat amazed. Goodnight & good luck.

I think it being hard to stop the rotational force is the AFL's point. Once you're slinging a bloke with a pinned arm, you or the player have got no control over whether his head does smash into the ground - so whether it does hit the turf or not, their rules treat it as equally dangerous. Because they want to get rid of that style of tackle.

We've just got to learn not to sling blokes in tackles anymore.

Had no influence whatsoever until the last quarter, and was handed at least two of his goals. Still, did okay and one of our better players overall on the night.

Whilst he does what he does he is worth something to us in the trade, 2 decent players or picks will set us up. We need to do this before he explodes again and there will be “again”

Regardless of what the moral crusaders might want, Jordy won’t make it to trade period. I think/hope we will re-sign him but if not he would go in the free agency period. So no, we likely won’t be trading - compo would be the return and that would be no bueno.

So important to us. We need him!

I can’t agree with that. I thought he was working his arse off and looking dangerous all night, often not being rewarded for his efforts, but it just took until the last quarter for it all to go off.

Agreed. I also think he was very good in the first quarter.

It's hard to just luck into 4 goals and nearly 600 metres gained

They used him differently around stoppage. He wasn't trying to be first possession, he was staying forward side and looking to get the ball fed to him to break away. It's a lower possession, high impact style - I thought he was involved in a fair few scores, as well as the goals he kicked - haven't seen the stats though.

3rd for metres gained on the ground, =2nd for score involvements. Led Pies players in both categories.

Not surprised. Rather than losing the one we have like so many seem to want - we need two more of him. 2 at stoppage and 1 at full forward.

Where do you get stats like that?

Need to clone both he and Moore. Maybe some more Daicos' too.

You can mess around with all sorts of statistical categories.

I don’t think we have the midfield depth to allow him to play that way. He is damaging but I think we need the extra possession first grunt mid to help us wrestle control.

Might just have been because we had such a weak forward line in that we wanted him to play that more attacking style - looking for really clean exits. Looking at the stats, the surprising thing was how little game time Adams played - only 66%, might have been a bit covid impacted.

That’s true I didn’t consider that, was probably the right move for the match. I’m surprised as well because all I remember was him butchering the ball all the time.

Adams said during the week that he was still recovering and that with a short turnaround before the Brisbane road game, last round was something he was just “going to have to get through”. Was always going to be underdone.

Coaches votes again. Why was not he signed up on a long term deal before Moore? He is better than Grundy and Moore but does not have a contract. Wright should be on to this now. And the offers are just going to get higher and higher which will hurt our cap more than had we signed him up earlier.
