I think this is a free hit year for us. No one expected us to be top 4, we get some quality experience into a seriously young team and we get an offseason to build tanks for the rigours of repeated finals runs.
Or, we just win the bloody flag this year! Bulldogs did in ‘16!
Just don't want to do a Brisbane and go out in straight sets.

Need to win one final. Now, that'll be huge.

We don’t need to do anything but follow the Voss process and let the cards fall. If we go out in straight sets, Cripps will monster everyone to make amends in the years to follow.
Straight sets in ‘94! I forget what happened in ‘95???

Let me just say that I think the swans are a very professional football team but how and why did they let Hewett leave?

Bit like if they had of kept Mumford when they got buddy probably win a flag - they didn't know tippet would tip over .. they probably felt they had cover for Hewitt in Callum mills the youngsters Heeney Parker and Kennedy ..

Expecting a huge game from our mids.
TDK will get the better of Cameron, who won't be able to compete with his athleticism and isn't strong enough to exploit TDK's lack of size
As for their mids, Adams and De Goey are great players, but out of form and won't be able to keep up

Make no mistake, I'm thrilled with how we're going. I couldn't be more impressed with Voss, and the changes we made over the off-season.
I just don't think where we are is "unbelievable." Vossy has definitely done well to implement a new game plan so quickly. But I think that a lot of people have been so burnt by the last few years that they have grossly underestimated how stacked our list is.

I think everybody knew the talent was there... that's why we were so pissed off with the performances and game plan.

Voss has done something that Teague couldn't ... and there's no guarantee even Clarko could turn us around this quickly.

We've gone from bottom 5 in a lot of key areas to top 5. I wouldn't look back at the last couple years as wasted though, we went through what we went through and its made us the team we are now.

Bought 4 extra seats Friday morning expecting this blockbuster to eventuate
Ive tried for years to explain to my kids that these two sides are the biggest in the land only to be laughed at
I wont be surprised if theirs 80 k there Strap yourselves the atmosphere will be electric especially if we smash them early
Biggest Australian Rules clubs in the world!

I love Carroll, but he looks absolutely rattled when faced with the prospect of kicking a set shot.

The lack of midfield minutes has pushed him forward, and he’s clearly not entirely comfortable with that responsibility yet, which is fine.

But it’s also the reason Martin comes straight back in.

Glass half empty view of injuries:

McGovern
Williams
Mckay
Pitto
Martin

All very good (and in McKay case ‘champion) players. Huge losses.

Glass half full:
  • Williams is replaced by Stocker so the loss is not that significant.
  • not sure Pitto and TDk and SOs is a good combo so perhaps Pitto isn’t the loss we thought
  • Martin (after accounting for mckay v Carroll) is really only substituting for one of the pretty effective mosquitos.

Rather than seeing it as 5 big outs it’s probably more like 2:
  • McKay for Carroll is massive
  • McGovern for Plowman I think is big because McGovern could fast start us in transition a lot and Plowman doesn’t. MCG can also third man up and intercept.
