Richmond has to be the most arrogant team and Damien Hardwick the most big-headed, egotistic coach. In 2016, he could have been sacked had the board not been nice. People who forget their past are doomed to repeat their mistakes.
Add Hawks and Cats in recent years. Either way, I’d happily claim those flags if the arrogance came with it.

Can’t wait til the rest of the league hate us (even more) again coz we’re winning flags.

I doubt he’s offered the same advice to Bolton, Aarts, Castagnia, Short, who are all exponents of the same “skill”.

Melbourne players Steven May and Jake Melksham have been slammed by the club after an incident at a posh Prahran restaurant.

The players clashed at 9pm Sunday at Entrecote restaurant, on a weekend when May was out with concussion.
He has been suspended for a week by the club.

The Herald Sun put questions to the Demons last night about the incident, with the club releasing a statement just after 11.30am today.

Melbourne general manager of football performance Alan Richardson said the club was incredibly disappointed by the incident.

“Following a dinner on Sunday evening, Jake and Steven informed us of a scuffle that took place after a lighthearted disagreement between the pair escalated,” he said.

“Both Jake and Steven had been drinking at dinner and are incredibly remorseful that things played out the way they did.

“Given Steven is still under the AFL concussion protocols from Round 11, he was aware that under club guidelines he should not have been drinking.”
Richardson said May would be out this week following the incident.

“The leadership group has recommended to impose a one-match ban on Steven, a decision which has been endorsed by the club’s broader leadership. This will make him unavailable for both AFL and VFL selection,” he said.

“Steven and Jake will also complete community service through one of the club’s community partners to ensure they understand the responsibility and impact they have as role models within the community.

“Over the past three years, Steven has developed into one of our most important on-field leaders, and while the impact of not having him available for selection is significant, what is more significant to us is our culture and the commitment we have to live by our values.

“Steven is extremely remorseful and accepts his actions were completely out of step with the expectations the club and his teammates have of him. He accepts the sanction handed down and makes no excuse for his poor judgment.

“We are proud of the culture we have built over the past few years and while we are disappointed with Steven’s behaviour, we back in his character and will support him to ensure he is armed to make better decisions for himself and the football club moving forward.”
A witness said the players started to “fight” inside but it “spilt outside.”
A manager at Entrecote restaurant declined to comment when asked if the club had apologised.

There were up to a dozen players at the restaurant, before tempers frayed.
The flag favourites had just lost their second game in a row, with a defeat against the Sydney Swans at the MCG on Saturday night.

Entrecote restaurant is an institution among Melbourne’s social set.

Did we need a book?

I assume you're asking a sarcastic question about why the post was so long. It was an article, copy and pasted to explain what had happened.
I removed the photos, think that might be the issue.

Who do we bring in if checkers doesn’t pull up? He’s on light duties this week apparently due to knee soreness. Will be a massive lost if he doesn’t play

Kelly back and Moore forward? Or play JDG in Checkers role and include a Midfielder?
I thought of Kelly but he’s one game back and spent all time in defence. Degoeys been spending more time forward but geeze we’d be small when cox is needed to ruck. Wait and see I guess. Checkers might get up, but with May out, and a bye coming up, they might err on side of caution with him

Agree with that Checkers is your traditional tough Tassie boy and will want to play but if he is very sore a 2 week break might be prudent
To be honest when I was watching the VFL on Sunday I wondered at half time should they consider giving McMahon or Ruscoe a burst up forward against the Suns.

Elliott comes back into the forward mix, but l would have DeGoey forward with minimal midfield time, and bring Macrae into the midfield.

He will likely end up playing 200 games of footy. There is no way he is soft.

Once again, where did you play tough guy?

Nothing to do with where any of us have played.

It’s the standard of effort that you will accept as a team. And WHE is seriously lacking. On many fronts. Just like Thomas was. And if people then continued with their adulations. Neither Ginnivan, nor Henry would be playing. We’d still be wondering why Thomas was still getting a game.

Just like WHE. Any of the kids playing in the VFL can have the same output. The only difference will be they all have an upside. WHE is what he is. A plodder.

If he's on his way to 200 games of top level footy despite being "softer" than any average joe playing local footy then he must be freakishly talented! Right?

His only real appeal is that he is a stop gap player. Not a good enough for any of the utility spots on the team. But just palatable to be used in case of an injury at key spots. Can play on tall and small.

But his real problem is his impact on the contest. Next to useless. It’s the rain and blades of grass then him.
