Lessen the impact of Petracca & Oliver and stop Gawn from marking (not easy to do) we would win by plenty

The way I’m thinking, there is a spectrum of afl standard talent and also a specialisation of differing talent types. Do you think whe fits in within that spectrum and when someone is better he will be replacedHis only real appeal is that he is a stop gap player. Not a good enough for any of the utility spots on the team. But just palatable to be used in case of an injury at key spots. Can play on tall and small.
But his real problem is his impact on the contest. Next to useless. It’s the rain and blades of grass then him.

Gawn is a good tap ruckman, but really his big tick is about his marking and aerial presence around the ground when he's not often up against the other ruckman. There is very good, and there is being elite…this is the level you need to be at combat Gawn.
If we move De Goey out of the midfield for Macrae the dees midfield will kill us.Elliott comes back into the forward mix, but l would have DeGoey forward with minimal midfield time, and bring Macrae into the midfield.

Yes, I'd like to see
Moore vs Ben Brown/Jackson
Howe vs Weideman/M Brown
Maynard vs Fritsch
Noble/Daicos vs Spargo
Quaynor vs Pickett
Murphy vs Neale-Bullen
and
May vs Melksham
Grundy even in his current disinterested form will still out compete him around the ground and will go close to neutralising him in the ruck. The big issue we have is when Gawn goes forwardAbsolutely, but there is no other ruckman that can hold a candle to Gawn going around at the moment , will go down as one of the greatest ruckman the game has seen
Yep very good aerial, Grundy very good on the ground…one of the more enthralling contests in todays footy. Shame we won’t get to watch on Monday.Gawn is a good tap ruckman, but really his big tick is about his marking and aerial presence around the ground when he's not often up against the other ruckman.
It is quite common for players to comfortably outmark blokes they are 3” taller than.Gawn is a good tap ruckman, but really his big tick is about his marking and aerial presence around the ground when he's not often up against the other ruckman.
Absolutely. I more meant that when Gawn does his damage in the air and Cameron is in the ruck, he won't actually be playing on him. They'll often head in opposite directions after stoppage. It is quite common for players to comfortably outmark blokes they are 3” taller than.
Gawn is a fine footballer. Matrix is on the mark.

Fair old sledge!!

If Mihocek was out, WHE would have to play deep forward as a tall. No other option really.JDG still plays midfield, but a higher percentage playing forward. We have had Henry playing as our key forward, and if Mihocek is out, he will need another strong body to give him that support.
Otherwise we just have Cox playing majority time as a forward, but that could be hard on Cameron rucking majority time against Gawn and Jackson.
Either way, if Mihocek is out, selection will be interesting to see which way the coaches go.....
One report I read stated that Melksham dropped May.Would be interesting to watch as Melksham is apparently quite capable in the ring.
Yes yes it would. Debuting after an 8 week layoff when he’d played all of one match that had been senior relevant isn’t ideal prep. At a guess they’d turn to Begg in that scenario to support Cox and use Cameron as the deep forward. Fortunately the 8 day break and the nature of the injury works in Mihocek’s favour. If Mihocek was out, would it be that bad to bring AJ into the AFL team?
We can have Cox play more foreard minutes. He’s currently only at 60% TOG.
I have no issue with players being soft or being called softI don’t understand why people get so sensitive over players being called soft. Some of our players are soft, Buckley even said it…hard is Adams players that pull out or turn to avoid contact (Gini in the first quarter tackling) are soft….that’s a soft act. Doesn’t mean they don’t contribute in other ways…but the reality is carrying too many players that lose 1v1’s is a liability.
I think they'd just go with WHE playing deep. WHE Henry and Cox flying for those hotspot balls isn't ideal, but countered by May being out. Gawn would probably have a field day.Yes yes it would. And that's where it says May was dropped by one punch from Melksham.
Worth every cent I payed to read that.
0 chance unless we want him to redo his hammy. He will get managed minutes even in vfl I suspect. It was a bloody serious hammy. Back with the flight full stretched out, I remember it….If Mihocek was out, would it be that bad to bring AJ into the AFL team?
