You really have a genuine dislike of our Jordie don't you? I don't get it. You sound so bitter.

Just not blinded by bias. In my eyes he has been a disappointment. We paid him 800k over the past 3 years and we have not got our moneys worth.

I'm not saying we made a mistake putting him on 800k. In our GF year he looked like becoming a top 10 player in the comp. A genuine superstar of the comp. That hasn't happened. In my eyes and in the eyes of AA voters, coaches votes, B&F voting and by statistical analysis.

But apparently by the eye test he is worth it.

That same eye test told me that B.Brown, Coniglio, 2MP, Hogan, Dmac and a multitude of others were cooked. I think he might need an actual eye test

Stop making shit up. I never had an opinion on Coniglio, I said Hogan was never going to consider coming to a football state (and I was right), and I was actually a very vocal advocate for recruiting Wright. I get that you don’t like me, and that’s fine, I don’t particularly like you either. But don’t fabricate things to try to make yourself look clever. You get plenty of shit wrong yourself.

I would think they would come from the list I provided earlier-

McKay, King, Hawkins, J Cameron, C Cameron, Neale, May, Martin, Petracca, Oliver, Gawn, C Mills, Miller, Kelly, Wines, Bolton, Steele, Walsh, Cripps, Bont, Macrae, B Smith, Naughton, Sicily, T Lynch, Fyfe, Vlaustuin, Grimes, Moore, McGovern, Parish, Merrett, Stewart...

All significantly more proven and better players than DeGoey.

Not sure they’re all “significantly more proven” or “better”, but happy for you to think so.

It's not just the eye test. It depends on what stats you are looking at and what stats you think matters:

Petracca, Macrae, Parish, Oliver and Cripps are the only blokes who have bettered him in terms of a combination of score involvements and clearances. And he's playing more ahead of the ball than all of them and has thus bettered them all in terms of goals. In his role, they're the key stats and his combination of them is outstanding.

I actually hate Corns but agree with him on this one about JDG, he can do what he likes but common sense would dictate that he stays put and continues to train to build his Brand back up but hey, we all see things differently

I guess he cant be too stupid to realize this is his last chance.
Cane’s argument is totally illogical on several fronts! DeGoey or any player could just as easily mess up in any city in Australia just easily as in Bali. Last I checked Melbourne still has nightclubs and bars. Also Collingwood is developing an atmosphere of care and trust. How would JDG feel if he was treated like a child? Thirdly we are now preemptively judging people??? It’s not like JDG is going to a bikie festival. Players are entitled to go on leave during the bye. Cane focus on people who have actually messed up and leave JDG alone.

I know for a fact that Jordan is a devotee of Tri Hita Karana, a Balinese philosophy of life which elevates three causes of wellbeing.

He is a man who seeks harmony, and his trip is nothing short of pilgrimage.

If there is any tension between Jordan and Brodie Grundy, it revolves around philosophical jousting.

Jordan looks forward to more theatre in the future, most immediately the production of Hamilton. He's found a fellow song and dance enthusiast in Taylor Adams, and they'll be escorting each other.

He has become a well-rounded man, a renaissance man, and the cultural cache he brings to our club will secure him at least $850,000 a year.

Bank on it, you philistines.
Who actually are/were the philistines? They seem to get a really bad rap down through the ages.

There is no need for media comment and speculation as nothing has occurred at this stage. People should be able to go where they like whilst on vacation, this includes Bali.

I would struggle with a job that resulted in such invasion of privacy; even if I loved the actual work and it paid extremely well.

Should've gone to the states again

From this list, I’d trade de Goey for:

McKay, Either King, Petracca, Oliver, Mills, Walsh, Cripps, Bont, B Smith, Naughton, and Stewart.

Others may be better but they’ve reached their peak, aren’t a list fit or have had substantial injuries.

De Goey fits comfortably in this list for on field only discussion.
In the pre season I was in the trade him camp because collingwood just needs 12-24 months of no outside noise.

Right now I think he’s too valuable to us, and based on the free agency market and our ladder position we’ll only lose on field by letting him go.

If he behaves himself, he’s a must have. If he messes up again I doubt the offers will come anyway.

DeGoey is 88th in the league for disposals.

DeGoey is 122nd in the league for tackles.

DeGoey is 35th in the league for inside 50s.

DeGoey is 31st in the league for clearances.

DeGoey is 58th in the league for goals.

DeGoey is 15th in the league for score involvements.

So yeah. He is worth 800k a game.
I find the 4 in bold very interesting. I imagine there’s some sort of metric to measure impact per possession and to me the bottom 3 are the most important midfield metrics in the game. Do you think there’s anyone winning less of the ball and contributing more in the other 3 areas than JDG? IMO, he’s the clear most impactful midfielder in the game because when he gets it something happens.

The difference between him being the clear most impactful and clear best really is only about 5ppg. I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility that when the whips are cracking later in the year that he’s around the contest more therefore winning more of the ball. I agreed with your earlier take that when viewing his 18-19 we’d have hoped he’d be at Petracca levels by now, but the reality is the current JDG is still damn good and better than your current rating of him.

My two cents on player ratings the AFL player ratings>>>CD ratings and they completely lack context in this type of discussion. JDG currently sits at 66 with the AFL player ratings which is inclusive of his past 35 matches meaning his first half of 2021 which was sub par v the current JDG that’s winning a contract extension. Once those last matches of Buckley’s tenure drop off the ratings period he’ll push into at least the top 30 in line with his current AFLCA ranking, IMO.

Shocked that a refined, sophisticated gentleman like Jordan has chosen Bali as a tourist destination. 😂
Perhaps he’s staying at the Anantara Uluwatu?
$2000 per night…away from the bright lights of Kuta & Seminyak…
Watching replays of games this year…to identify improvements…

He was reportedly at Finns Beach Club. Which looks like an excellent destination for any rational 20-something with money in his pocket. Good job Jordy. Excellent decision-making.

Like the Frankstonians, they are an ancient and biblical people.

Unfairly maligned, defined by their enemies, destined to be misunderstood.

In other words, people who praise cash and who don't like to read.

You wouldn't trade DeGoey for Andrew Brayshaw? Caleb Serong? Sean Darcy? Logan McDonald? Luke Jackson? Zak Butters? Noah Anderson? Matt Rowell? Tom Green? Either DeKoning? Nick Blakey? Jack Lukosius? Zac Bailey? Cam Rayner?

There are many other players not on the list that are young and upcoming and are swiftly going past Jordy in value.

"Players I Like More Than Jordy". Is this a list you add to every week, a little bit like Richo's rolling All-Australian?
