Here's one for you. AFL begged him to gain citizenship on Australia Day. Urged him to
Told him it'd be amazing coverage for them and a feel good story. Collingwood FC agreed with the AFL.

He refused because of the indigenous issues with Australia Day. He said he'd do it when he's good and ready.

He did it today. Nothing special about today. Nobody's birthday. Planned it out a few months ago so you can't even claim he did it for positive PR which they originally tried to do it for. He did it because he wanted to become Australian.

As a player, I think he's more often bad than good on field but when he's good he makes them awfully hard to beat. I argue that there's no player in the AFL whose best and worst are as far apart as his.

Rubbish Collingwood for all of their crap. They deserve it.

I still respect the few good things coming from that club of which he is one.

Is anyone else a bit annoyed that Swans Dwarf Burners is on Channel 7 on Saturday Night and we are shunted off to Fox Footy? Felt like our game would be the more appealing for neutral fans, bur but again, its another annual pride game between those two games, which is very important so fair enough there.

At any rate, would love us to have more day games, with some issues (like anxiety/panic attacks and asthma related problems in this chilly weather) I find myself staying more at home for Night Games, whereas I happily go to all day games

I realize it's better for the club in terms of TV sponsorship and revenue, but I would like a few more day games personally.

I know he’s done some questionable things and this post isn’t gonna be liked my most people but I really feel for de goey.

You have to remember the guy is in his mid 20’s. What were most people here doing in their mid 20’s? Partying? Drinking? Doing dumb things? Add that to having a high profile and money 5% of 20 year olds have and it doesn’t end well.

I hope he gets better and I’m rooting for him to come out of this on the right side.

De Goey's two biggest problems is that he takes no personal accountability for his actions and he has no self awareness.

Surely he could understand his actions were going to cause drama and open up a can of worms.

Once the lass involved said she had no issue with his action the only thing I could think was "but did the whole world really need to see it?"

If you do those things behind closed doors then go ahead, nobody is going to know about it.

But when you put your life onto social media for the whole world to see that's when you open yourself up for your actions being questioned.
