Problem is we never do that our defence is made up of flankers and slow moving mule’s

I don’t know how the salary structure washes out, but Howard and Aliir at FB/CHB with Jonas back to third/fourth banana a la the halcyon days of Carlile/Trengove/Hombsch might’ve been handy to see.

fmd the AFL have no shame - promoting/celebrating this on their platforms:

Tenuous (bogus?) WAFL heritage seems to be not a problem as far as the Fremantle franchise is concerned, never mind if it was the same actual hundred and something year old football club or not.

How's the East Freo and South Freo versions. NOT THE SAME CLUD YOUR STEALLING HISTORY!!!1!!

I don't think they're claiming to have a connection to the WAFL clubs, they're just acknowledging the heritage of football in the state, which is a good thing in my view as the official VFL/AFL version of football history is that the game was first played in WA in 1987 and in SA in 1991.

They’re definitely trying to claim a connection, albeit only geographically, because they only wear those two club’s guernseys.

They should probably have worn a Claremont one if they wanted to be true to their original set up in the AFL.

KENNYS COACHING BETTER THAN HE EVER HAS!

Imagine finishing top 2, then Marshall and Rozee elevating their game to an elite level, and yet we finish 13th.

BRILLIANT COACHING FROM THE BRILLIANT MIND MASTERMIND GENIUS

In 2021, Dixon scored 2.0 goals per game, Fantasia 1.9 goals per game, Gray 1.1 goals per game, Marshall 1.1 goals per game, Rozee 1.0 goal per game and Georgiades 1.5 goals per game. That's 8.6 goals a game just from our forward line - approximately 52 points per game.

In 2022, Dixon is scoring 1.5 goals per game, Fantasia is missing and being replaced by guys like Mead who don't equate to much firepower, Gray 0.8 goals per game, Marshall 2.1 goals per game, Finlayson 1.1 goals per game and Georgiades 1.0 goal a game. That's 6.5 goals a game - 39 points.

That's 13 points per game we are worse off than last year, when Marshall's rise should be seeing us adding 6 points - a 19 point swing. Even if you equate for Gray's drop in performance being to age, that's only 2 points...but let's be generous and say it's a 15 point swing.

15 points would have seen us win against Brisbane, Adelaide, Carlton, Richmond, Fremantle and Melbourne, which would have seen us a game clear on top of the ladder on 14 wins, Geelong in 2nd with 13 wins, Melbourne on 12 wins and Brisbane and Fremantle on 11 wins.

It's why I'm extremely bullish about next year. We're basically getting a top ten pick through poor circumstance rather than the state of our list, and if Amon goes and we get a end of first round pick, I reckon I would try to upgrade that by giving up our 2023 second round pick to someone who needs capital for F/S or academy selections. Use those two picks on the best small forwards you can. Put Dixon back in the forward line, get Fantasia back...then you add a Georgiades who has a decent preseason and gets the fitness needed to run all day AND kick goals.

Like I said, the recession we had to have.

So what you're saying is we would be winning more if we were scoring more, which we aren't, but you know, if we were, we'd be winning more. What insight. Extend Hinkley for 10 more years.

Bought a ticket to showdown earlier this year now being constantly spammed by this pathetic lot. Emails, text messages. Please make it stop. I bought tickets thru ticketek not some crow website. Not impressed one bit with contact details given to that club

No. I'm saying that we're missing the output of Dixon, Fantasia and an out of sorts Georgiades in the forward line when adding Finlayson and an improved Marshall should have improved it. You can't say 'look at the improvement of Marshall and Rozee' without acknowledging the other side of the ledger.

So is it 52,022 guernseys?
Or 5 x 2022 guernseys?
;)

So we were 2nd, and two of our underperformers last year got better this year, but we've gone backwards because most of our other players are playing shit. Yep. That's true. Unquestionably. But it's not the "Hinkley is coaching better than ever" argument you think it is. Actually it's the opposite. And it shows exactly why your idea that all these things will fix themselves next year or even automatically improve is horseshit, which is also the exact same line of thinking that our club went into this year with - which clearly hasn't worked.

Christ you drink the bathwater don't you.

I made no statement about Hinkley or his coaching. I don't give a **** about him. It's about the production of the team. And the team is going to improve next year whether he is here or not.

They didn't this year though. You pointed that out yourself. Some got better sure but many went backwards. So why will we automatically get better next year? Here's a clue: without change, we won't.

Has he’s good games but can be very average.
Jonas couldn’t kick over a jam tin
And the rest apart from Burton turn the ball over too often.
Agree, he's been a bit hit and miss this season. But he is a KPD that we have traded in.

Of course Bevo is upset that ducking won’t be rewarded. No magic carpet ride for the Dogs this year.
That's 8 years of intensive coaching down the drain with one pen stroke, m8.

Yep.

Our rookie list should always be 2 x rucks, 2 x small forward with goal sense and 2 x KPD.

Historically that's what you get from the rookie list.

Disagree there and reckon you're undervaluing proper elite KPDs.

Look how much May improves Melbourne.
Richmond had Rance then replaced him with another big beast in Balta.
Hawthorn chased Brian Lake who was massive for them.

Western umpdogs the outlier of recent flags
