The big take home is that given %, realistically for Geelong to fall out of the top 2:

-They would have to lose 2 games
-2 of Melbourne, Brisbane and Freo would have to go undefeated.

Given that Melbourne play both Freo and Brisbane, that is impossible.

Thus Geelong probably have to drop 3 games and lots of results go against them to even finish as low as third.

Melb are now 4-4 after starting the season 10-0 and are really just going atm
Nah your giving them to much credit they haven’t gone 4-4 they have gone 3-5.

Melbourne will be lucky to hold onto top 4 the way they are going.

Has only played 1 VFL game, doubt they bring him in so soon

Hes played 2 vfl games and we will have to bring him in now i expect he plays next week.

Looking at Melbourne's run home...a Geelong vs. Melbourne QF is now a serious possibility.
Hard to know whether to barrack for them to lose enough to fall out of the top 4 or to win enough to stay above 4th.

Why not make him sub tonight?

Because hes barely played vfl all year (compared to neale etc) so he gets more benefit from training hard at home rather than potentially being an unused sub. Plus neale is a better sub option as more positionally versatile ceglar only plays one position. Now that the guy in that position stanley is injured id expect ceglar to be straight in next week as we need to get him in sync with our mids in case (i hope not) stanleys not back by finals.

Maybe. I’m not as convinced that if he wasn’t ready tonight he will be ready next week.

I think they came in knowing Stanley was sore and thinking they’d give Neale a half to run at it to see how he goes. The other option, if Ceglar is fit enough, would have been to play Ceglar in Stanley’s place.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ratugolea next week.

Team higher on the ladder winning remaining games gives:

Some pivotal matches in the next few rounds:

Freo v Dees
Dees v Pies
Dees v Blues
Swans v Pies
Lions v Dees
Blues v Pies

If we beat the Dogs next week they will need to beat Freo at Marvel the following week to get ahead of Richmond I think.

My only change to this ladder (that I've had pencilled in a couple of weeks now) is Bulldogs replacing Richmond. They will beat Freo or Richmond will lose to Port.

Lack of a genuine quality KPD...

The Bulldogs are far from a complete side - yes they had a good win tonight, but doesn't change the fact they've had an indifferent season
All about timing.
We all know they can get momentum and go on a winning spree, and now is the right time to do that.
What we saw last night was very impressive. Is that reproducible at Geelong next week? Hope not.
They made the GF last year after a lot of "indifferent" form.
