Convincing might be a strong word for the chat. Ponting would have a pretty good idea of what's going on behind the scenes with the board and coteries etc, both as individuals and groups, would probably be able to give Clarko some backgrounding that he might otherwise struggle to get. Though Ricky would have a biased perspective, he is a high achieving sportsman.
