The whole Dunkley thing gets on my goat.

I get the whole loyalty goes both ways thing, but after so publicly wanting to go to Essendon and then Dodo not wanting him enough to see it through, we took him back and he's now one of our leaders. He's even got a companion pony in Treloar.

Now we have him seemingly kicking sand in the club's face for a second time. We demand a first and another pick/player. Nothing less.
He has a better track record than hopper so it will be interesting to see what our recruitment guys can pull of vs what geelongs can

TBH, the whole Dunkley thing is in the collective BF mind at this stage.
There is nothing definite out there, so I'm prepared to wait it out without coming to any conclusions.
Classis jumping-at-shadows right now.
Doesn't social media just love that? Absolute feeding frenzy going on!

Not having a go at you, DR - I just quoted your post as a reference point 🙂

Hopper has been awful since his return from injury and in a vacuum Dunkley to mine has a lot more currency.

Reported on Twitter as 2 years, hopefully that’s incorrect though and it’s a bit longer!
2 years sounds about right, Baz probably knows he’s going to be a lot more valuable in 2 years and we’d probably be wary of
going too big/long. Would be nice to have him locked in long term but at least it’s out of the way for now.

Kids a gun, we’ve all obviously forgotten just how good his start to the year was - he was AA until his little incidents. Was the hardest runner in the game just about but yes he’s had a bad month disposal wise.

He’ll never be an elite kick but it’s not unusual for his type to be hit or miss, they usually tend to learn to live within their limitations a little bit with experience. Plus I think we could help him out by having better options for him in front of the ball, he’s more than capable of it - see the lace out kick he hit Jamarra with on the weekend when he had an actual proper target lead up at him.

Kid will be a superstar

Looking at his highlights, I can’t work out how he kicks these goals from the pocket, but then can’t execute a 30 metre kick going forward!

Not sure anyone knows the specifics yet mate. Everyone’s just assuming because journos were saying it was done that he was staying weeks ago and nothings been done since. Then the port link came along.

Dangerfield being Clangerfield for a very long time is my example. I think Smith can get to an acceptable level eventually.

whats the rationale behind two years?

You're back at the contract table in a year's time for a young player.
My guess is the drug stuff scared both away from anything long term. He'll get a massive pay day if he keeps his nose clean in the next two years.
Pun completely intended.

As bad as his kicking and defensive abilities are, I think it's pretty likely that two years from now Baz is viewed as a top player of the game. Smart decision if you're a top end young talent. Those two years won't be chump change and then he gets to pursue a mega deal.

Going out of contract the same time Tim becomes a free agent isn't ideal at all for us though. Lose both in one year with the age Bont and co will be/will be approaching at that point...

Some savvy salary cap planning required by Power going forward that's for sure.
