Daniel Cherney in the Hair-Oiled Scum today has picked our 'best' team for the finals - no Henry, Mieirs or O'Connor. He's 'picked' the oldest team ever. Hasn't got a clue. Youth will be the key this time around.

There will be some unlucky players that miss out, particularly if everyone remains fit. I wouldn’t have O’Connor in my finals team. Henry is a lock, Miers plays a really important role and has been getting better every week this year.

But it’s hard to pick who comes out, I would leave O’Connor and Kolo out as I think we have to many defenders and they are the weakest ones we have. I very much doubt that they will leave those two out though.

We know that Scott loves versatility in players so anyone who can play multiple spots will have more of a chance.

Danger on SEN this morning said he’s playing Saturday.
But later on said something along the lines of his missus going to the game and him staying home to rest for a couple of days so who knows.

Strongly doubt Hawkins will be rested. Not something we do with the big guy.
His rests are suspensions and he's fighting for Coleman and AA status. His rest will be the bye week imo.

Dont think they will really care about the Coleman, team orientated players and have to make up 5+ goals on the best forward in the comp.

That is uncommon for interstate games, isn’t it? I hope we are bunkering down ahead of finals. It’d be a disaster to lose players to COVID at this point of the year.

I'm actually really filthy about this.

Very poor way to treat us Queensland supporters--especially after all the support we gave the boys in person during 2020.

If you don't want to take photos and sign guernseys fine (except they still doing this in Geelong so why is Queensland different?), but you can still hold an open training and maybe kick a few signed footys into the crowd for the kids at the end. It's not that hard especially when they only play one game here in Queensland this year and interstate membership is far too much money when you take that into consideration.

Yeah but ladder positions are sorted out. I feel searching for Jez will be just the motivation we need to get through the following games in good nick whereas we'd struggle to get up otherwise.

Unusually relaxed for this game. Of course, would love us to win, but we have showed clubs and supporters that we are the best this year. Now just a matter of fine-tuning everything, and no injuries, no suspensions. And I actually think the week off will be good for us.
Not disrespecting GC at all, as they have been very competitive at more times this year than in previous years.
Their young gun mids will be keen to prove a point or 2 to the #1 team.

Family had flights booked but aren’t going.

I doubt the players were involved in the decision it would have been made much higher up due to covid risks etc. Clubs will probably use chartered flights in finals too. Sad for fans but i can understand it.

Need to go in full hubs/ hotel quarantine. Weve gone too far to potentially mess it up for ourselves.

They'll be tricky - they're still one win away from equalling their best season (10 wins in 2014) and despite some improvement this year they've gotten pretty bogged down over the past 6 weeks, blowing their shot at an inaugural finals berth.

But they're solid at Metricon and they'll present some problems.

It’s a good omen but those teams were all finals teams so losing to a good team could be forgiven as tuning up. We’re finishing the season with two pretty poor teams so a slip up would be a little different.

I'm always wary when a player who has battled calf issues for two years is a sudden withdrawal after the warm up with calf tightness.

I'm hoping there isn't more to this but if he misses again I'll start to worry.
