And just because the thread heading includes "unfeasible wishlists" and "crazy suggestions" doesnt mean post after post saying "1st round pick or GTFO".

It will be a 3rd round at best, 4th round possible, or the future equivalent. Or the deal falls through, Gunston gets really pissed off at Hawthorn for being dicks, then walks to another club.

Do we really want to be arsehats over someone we got for a steal and then played a key part in our threepeat?

Yes - I would prioritise the Dunkley trade and getting a draft hand that secures Ashcroft and Fletcher because a 31 year old forward won't be the solution for winning a premiership with a side that is often criticised for being too tall and has weaknesses in other areas that need more attention.

If Hawthorn really wanted to be dicks though in your hypothetical world - I would tell Gunston to just wait out the free agency period then Hawthorn would have no choice but to go into a trade and accept what they could get for a player who no longer wants to be at the club.

2nd rounder is about right. 30-40 range. We're kidding ourselves if there just going to hand him to us for a 3rd or 4th. They will come to the party. The bloke wants to leave and there not playing him regularly but is still a decent enough player to warrant a decent pick. Only 25 years old.
